I suspect Chewkw is actually a stockbroker who had a wager that that Farage chap in the year below at Dulwich might actually pull it off.
ninfanFree MemberYeah – WTF was everybody doing protesting about us being members of the EU and refusing to accept the result of the 1975 referendum?
The EU didn’t exist in 1975
chewkwFree Memberigm – Member
Wasn’t aware they had threatened us. Please do enlighten me mr bureaucrat.Ya, didn’t they all described Brexit as “hard” eh? I mean what the flying pig is hard and soft Brexit? UK is out. Simple.
Protesting against things you don’t like, even if you have no belief it will change things, is the very essence of a free democratic state.
Protesting prior to the election to influence the voters I say you are good at your game, but protesting after losing a legitimate election is basically snowflakes in melt down.
the silent majority to speak out against the small mindedness of things like Brexit and the innate racism of Trump.
The snowflakes called themselves the silent majority now? They are silent? 😆 The real silent majority are the ones that voted the snowflakes out. They are silent alright. They are not celebrities endorsed. They are not eagerly trying to be needy or to be selfie “cool”. They are the silent majority. Snowflakes don’t even know the meaning of racism if they see one.

Wise words from chewk, it must be the end of times! No, not the end of time but watching lousy movie on telly at the moment. I don’t even know how many times I have watched Bored Ultimatum now.

Yeah – WTF was everybody doing protesting about us being members of the EU and refusing to accept the result of the 1975 referendum? You mean the handful that protested because they were sold out by Ex-PM Ted? While the rest just zombie walked into the EU Project trap only to be woken up 43 years later? If you called that protest then yes they protested.
gofasterstripesFree MemberNo, not the end of time but watching lousy movie on telly at the moment. I don’t even know how many times I have watched Bored Ultimatum now.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results.Luckily I just had my gin and tonic otherwise I would be bored to death on my sofa. I shall be buying a bottle of Beefeater gin as I just run out … Gin and tonic, I like.

I suspect Chewkw is actually a stockbroker who had a wager that that Farage chap in the year below at Dulwich might actually pull it off. Now, that hurts … really that hurts. I missed the chance to win good money. 2 – Nil. Because I could have won some £££ by now if I put a bet on my predictions. I mean 2 – Nil. Instead, now I have to start counting the time of EU system collapse … I shall have my hat-trick, yes I will.
EU bureaucrats ain’t see nothing yet …
igmFull MemberChewkw – no you won’t, because you don’t exist, you’re made up.
Also…
Protesting prior to the election to influence the voters I say you are good at your game, but protesting after losing a legitimate election is basically snowflakes in melt down.
It’s always prior to the next time – what is past as they say is prologue
And, whisper it, Donald is the snowflake. Watch his promises melt away.

FFS this place is increasingly childish
Where did all the grown ups go who had opinions and brains and could explain a point as they peppered you with clever insults ?
now its just shit like that
God this is one of the most whining posts I’ve ever read on here !! I wouldn’t have voted for Trump but not being a US citizen I couldn’t. But guess what he won end of, it doesn’t matter whether you or anyone thinks he’s fit to be president he’s going to be.
I sincerely wish him the best of luck and hope he’ll be a good president for the sake of all American’s and by default the rest of us.Quote thing doesn’t seem to have worked but you get the jist.

Questioning the legitimacy is daft and pointless unless they have some actual evidence of fraud.
But seems pretty reasonable to say “You don’t speak for me. You’re not my president”
And don’t forget this isn’t limited to leftie snowflakes – there was a lot of that after Obama got in, with people saying he wasn’t their president and claiming he was a secret Muslim and wasn’t even American – in fact Trump was one of the most vocal about that!
I shall be buying a bottle of Beefeater gin as I just run out … Gin and tonic, I like.
Wait till you try it with decent gin 😀
mikewsmithFree MemberFor those suggesting that it’s just for Americans to complain or discuss, if Trump manages some of his ideas then it will impact Mexico, China, Iran specifically, make it harder for any country to do business with or in America change the face of Nato and global relationships. Unfortunately we are all invested in this. Same as brexit impacts more than just the UK.
But seems pretty reasonable to say “You don’t speak for me. You’re not my president”
Well put. The other concern is that those who backed him include some of the more extreme gun toting down with government groups who now feel empowered. Wait till they get let down.

He IS a Muslim unless you want to call him Berak Obama in which case he might be insulted. Well, they questioned him but I cannot remember mass protest.

If you can keep the price to max £20 for good bottle then I want to know. I was looking at Plymouth Gin and Martin Miller’s gin …. £25 … is it worth it?
igm – Member
Scots gin?Which one? I thought gin and tonic are associated with London only? I mean for my pretend “purist” … told by me mates Gin means London. 😆
akiraFull MemberChewkw is now a parody of an impression of a troll.

I wouldnt, You know Plymouth isn’t in London?

jambalayaFree MemberSmall world. Found out today via a Huffington Post article an ex-colleague who I sat next to when working in NY ran Trumps fund-raising. Rumoured to be in line for a significant position in the administration.
@mike the US pays 70% of NATOs budget, Trump is quite right to tell the members to honour their spending commitments. What excuse does Belgium have for example to pay half of what it is supposed to ? Ex NATO Anders F-R head was complaining that the US should be doing more in Ukraine, I think Trump is quite right to say (as Obama did) – your doorstep, your foreign policy initiatives lead to it, your problem.
jambalayaFree MemberTheresa who?
Not a massive surprise Farage and Banks are in NY “first” as they where part of Trumps campaign. UK Govt distanced itself from Trump during the election, that made politcal sense.
May will be the first (or one of) leaders to travel to NY to meet him.
I see the Germans got their lederhosen in a twist over the prospects of a US/UK trade deal, whilst many in EU where opposed to TTIP they have put many many man years of work (and €€€€) into it and it’s now as dead as a Dodo.

There is every chance that Trump will have vacated the white house before we start negotiating a trade deal with the US, in the miracle that we start that early relying on an isolationist & protectionist president who seems to pride himself on making great deals to come allow the passing of a deal that will be favourable to the UK.
Also if you were going to work on priorities the EU would be ahead of the UK on size alone (apart from the fact they can start) also in your great experience how long does one take to negotiate?slowoldmanFull Memberthere was a lot of that after Obama got in, with people saying he wasn’t their president and claiming he was a secret Muslim and wasn’t even American

Says who? [/quote] Slowoldman are you for real? At least attempt to google for information, I mean that is the least you can do. Innit. Not that I bother about his religion as I come from a region surrounded by his faith.
Yes, in my town I do offer some good pork chops to me mates. Unlike you lot that might go ape flying, they take no offense at me offering pork chop. They just refuse to eat my offer but we are all good pals. We have our own ways of making fun of each others. 😆
He said it himself. Just stick to the first half of the clip while the second half is about something else.
jambalayaFree MemberInteresting roundtable discussion on Trump. Comments on Obamacare from Republican perspective. Emily Thornbury’s face at 9:40 shows huge intolerance and constantly speaking over other contributors.
jambalayaFree MemberBoba yup he speaks a lot of sense. The video sums up STW political threads perfectly.
@mike officially we can’t start negotiating a deal till March 2019 but we all know in reality we are having discussions globally as we type.
kimbersFull MemberIs she talking over farage? – Some people find it hard to respect racists,
Before someone quotes Pie at me, as regards the referendum, people did shout racist at farage, but only when he was being racist, (eg refugee posters), not so sure about Trump but when the lies from Vote Leave about economic out political benefits of Brexit (eg bullshit on a bus) were pointed out they were called project fear & dismissed as coming from experts 🙄
There’s nothing wrong with calling someone racist, when that’s what they are
.mikewsmithFree Member@mike officially we can’t start negotiating a deal till March 2019 but we all know in reality we are having discussions globally as we type.
and how long do they normally take? remember how many trade negotiators we have, and the tricky part of having no idea what the rest of the picture looks like/ Forgive me for not being overly optimistic there.
On the time frame it’s 2 years from the start of A50, any sign of a bill to parliament yet?
Also by 2020 the next rounds of US Primaries will be taking place and they will be thinking of conventions and elections. It really doesn’t matter what Trump thinks on this issue does it…martinhutchFull MemberI was trying to work out where I’d seen Farage’s expression before. Seems appropriate enough.
jambalayaFree MemberSam Harris. Thought this was interesting (will post in Corbyn thread too)
Tom_W1987Free MemberWhat Harris is saying is again, obvious to anyone who is vaguely
cognizant of history, Fascism in Germany was in part a middle class backlack to working class communisism back in the 30’s. Not to mention that now, like then, we have a divided left bitterly arguing amongst themselves – unaware of the real threat that was looming. Of course the loss of universalist values and the rise of identiy politics was going to drive political polarisation, did we really think that it meant that one side was going to convince the other or we were all going to find some middle ground compromise? This was all so **** predictable – and few people actually really understanf what happened – we have political pundits who are paid in the triple figures who are utterly devoid of the ability to call on historical perspective.
And lefty friends of mine in the states, still think that it’s clever to go on BLM rallies, use the language of struggle and violence to describe their movement and declare Trump as not being their president. What do they think the outcome of this will be? Will people suddenly change their mind about Trump? **** no, the right will harden it’s resolve. The only way the left can counter this is by reasserting universalist values and show a united front against right wing politics.
