Donald! Trump!

Trump looks in a state of shock, which to be fair is understandable.
codybrennanFree MemberIn a way, I’d love to see the old bastard succeed, at least in some parts of the agenda he’s set out. And I’m a lefty-liberal, pinko commie scumbag.
By that I mean: wrest back control from the neocon globalist movements that are creeping into everything, poisoning everything……its a total race to the bottom for all of us now. The poorer nations have had to deal with the thick end of it for longer than we have, but its now hitting us in the West and we don’t like it one little bit. Boo-hoo us. We helped create the situation, but there you go. Capital is in the driving seat, operating through the quasi-states of mega-corps, and trickle down is a myth.
That would be an excellent thing, and we can all see now that its the core of his success in appealing to the broken and disenfranchised- we (I mean me and my lefty-liberal, pinko commie scumbag friends) just didn’t see that as we’re in our wee bubbles. Fair enough, lesson learned.
But….can he really do it? America loves its cheap stuff just as much as we do. I said this before, in an earlier post, but unless we all accept that consumer goods and the means to produce them will cost us more, then its all for nothing. Can America deal with the fact that internalising certain costs of production will effectively amount to subsidising their workers salaries for producing them?
Same thing over here: we could open the pits tomorrow (well, not really, but bear with me), start to use UK coal, but at what cost? To make it competitive against other locally-produced energy sources, we’d need to pump in huge amounts of public money. People would be in work, but we’d be paying for it via the state.
I’m not saying this is a bad thing…..but its very un-American, and very opposed to how Trump has operated in business. So….as many of us have been involved in governmental procurement, running businesses, costing….how can he do it?
My big fear: he’s talking about slashing American salaries. He’s already said that American workers are paid too much. Is that his game?
EdukatorFree MemberThe national Front have been involved in violence throughout their history, Jamba. “le service d’ordre” of the party is known for its violence.
Youtube possibly NSFW if your workplace is sexist and allows naked male torsos but not female.
igmFull MemberI suspect the question is not can he do it (we have discussed that already and automation alone says he can’t) but does he actually want to do it?
He makes a lot of money from the status quo and very little extra from the vision he proposes. Maybe he is altruistic.
wilburtFree MemberHe’s 70 do you think more money matters when history is on offer.
DrJFull Memberthe most confusing thing about chewy, jamba and ninfan is that folk actually try and engage with
himthemFTFY
igmFull MemberWilburt – I’m on first name terms with one of Warren Buffet’s direct reports, and I’ve had the privilege of being present at Warren’s stakeholder meeting.
Warren is somewhat older than Trump and trust me money matters to him – not to spend he’s not interested in that particularly, but as a way of keeping score.
JunkyardFree Memberfair point
The only difference is i think jamby means what he says but his use of argument and facts are diabolical.
Ninfan has no idea what he believes so how could we- he will argue any position though and has some great goggle fu to be fair.
aracerFree MemberDo you think 4 years will be enough? (note, taking the piss != engaging)
We’ve also already discussed that – of course not. It’s a question which is answered quite simply by posing this other one: why did Trump run for president? The answer to that isn’t that he’s suddenly changed from what he’s already been.
JunkyardFree MemberNo it does not matter that is why he retired
It does matter to him the only question is does anything else
EdukatorFree MemberHe has lots of children and grandchildren.
“I hope the Russians love their children too”.
Sting, who plays the Bataclan tonight.
projectFree MemberJesus christ, jeremey clarkson and Jeremey Corbyn, where all ridiculed by a miniority of attention seekers, and theyre still doing the rounds, and some of us support their beliefs and teachings.
The chaps not even got the keys or company credit card as yet and some already seem to find him failing…………
aracerFree MemberWell maybe he’ll surprise us all, project. But you do realise this is a vanity thing for him?
JunkyardFree MemberThe chaps not even got the keys or company credit card as yet and some already seem to find him failing…………
I know why are folk being so tough in the serial ego maniacal racist pussy grabber with a history of bankruptcies, litigation and serial dishonesty
I have no idea why he is not getting the benefit of the doubt as he rows back from his own promises/rhetoric project none at all
binnersFull MemberHas someone just quoted Sting? 😯
Even for this place that is a new low

JunkyardFree MemberClearly i am gutted i am not on his xmas card list and that really was the cause of my comments
FFS this place is increasingly childish 🙄
Where did all the grown ups go who had opinions and brains and could explain a point as they peppered you with clever insults ?
now its just shit like that

projectFree MemberThe childishness belongs to people who dont live in the usa, didnt have a chance to not vote for him, and yet foster strange and percieved ideas, promoted by media on both sides of the sea, who obviously dont want to change.
If you want to change democracy move to the usa, stand for election, or vote if you ever are accepted as an american citizen for whoever you think will offer you the best deal, if you cant accept that argument ask mummy and daddy to explain other countrys democracy to you, and why it has nothing to do with us.
TooTallFree MemberThe chaps not even got the keys or company credit card as yet and some already seem to find him failing…………
Have you seen the people he is likely to give responsibility to? Talk about heading back to the age of belief and quackery over science and evidence!
Given his already broadcast views on climate and international affairs, someone would be monumentally dim to think his election had nothing to do with them, no matter where on the globe they lived.
(I’m a Brit living in America, so I do have a certain right to talk about this, even by your odd standards).kimbersFull MemberIll send you an xmas card JY
even if you do foster foster strange and percieved ideas 😯
aracerFree MemberWow. You do realise this is a discussion on a mountain bike forum, project? I’m not quite sure why none of us are allowed to express our opinions of how incompetent he is just because we didn’t have a vote. Actually, why are you on this thread expressing opinions?
Anyway, I don’t think we’ve yet done Clinton’s comments on why she lost:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election-us-2016-37963965
IMHO she has a point – the polls certainly moved markedly following that intervention, and it only needed a very small difference for her to have won.
somafunkFull MemberC’mon project…Trump is a douche no matter how you wrap up the package and if those that voted him in really expect change to come from his presidency then i expect they’ll be quite annoyed when Trumps promises don’t pan out. I imagine by that time they’ll have either turned their guns on themselves in a fit of rage/frustration or they’ll go full postal on others.
kimbersFull Memberobvs can never know for sure, but when it was such a small number of voters in swing states that won it for Trump (ignoring all other issues!)
Comey is defo gonna be on Trumps Xmas card list
aracerFree MemberOne which came up on Wednesday morning, but I don’t think I’ve mentioned before. In discussion on an online game – with people I’ve been chatting to for years, so kind of acquainted with even if I’ve never met them and never will:
somebody else: so who voted
me: the gullible it appearsI can’t remember the exact words of the response, but the suggestion was that I’d been taken in by the liberal press (liberal clearly being pejorative).
chewkwFree MemberTrump has been voted in democratically so he is legit.
Protesting against a legitimate outcome of an election is doing exactly the opposite and I don’t understand why protestors cannot accept the result.
Please describe your feeling the moment you realised Trump has become the President Elect.
kimbersFull Memberthats gotta smart for May/ Johnson / Fox
No wonder Johnson doesnt want to show his face at the EU Trump whinge-a-thon
captainsasquatchFree MemberMaybe there’s a job offer on the table and we can get rid of the nasty piece of flotsam.
“Brexit was the first real kick back against the liberal establishment, which has dominated with its friends in big business and the big banks, dominated the world for the last couple of decades,” he (Farage) said.
So off he trots to America to have a chat with his mate after the little people voted to get rid of the establishment in favour of one of the biggest business people in the States.
It’s almost like he makes it up on the hoof.wilburtFree MemberIf Trumps such a douche (whatever that is) how come he just became President of the USA?
He’s either a genius or everyone else is really shit.

Ouch !

Wonder what the EU bureaucrats are going to do about that … 😆
I suggest EU should start threatening UK a bit more … Go on they know they want to. 😈
GrahamSFull MemberFair enough chewkw- I’m sure you have never commented on any vote that didn’t go the way you liked. I’m sure if, for example, Brexit had been rejected you wouldn’t have made any comments about Zombie Maggots. 🙄
Please describe to me your feeling the moment you realised Trump has become the President Elect.
I’d use words like worried, frightened, resentful, angry, sad.
kimbersFull Memberdouche (whatever that is)

not a bad description of the orange one
chewkwFree MemberGrahamS – Member
I’m sure if, for example, Brexit had been rejected you wouldn’t have made any comments about Zombie Maggots. No, no, no … Zombie Maggot has nothing to do with Brexit or anything else. The term is generally referred to the Entire Human Race with No exception unless I explicitly exclude a person from this definition. There are even some in my family (someone related then related) which I would describe as worst than ZM.
I’d use words like worried, frightened, resentful, angry, sad.
Those are Not good feelings which might cause you more problems if not careful. If you feel angry for a moment that is acceptable but if you continue to feel more than that you might suffer without knowing. It is simply not worth it so let it go.
kimbersFull Member. It is simply not worth it so let it go.
Wise words from chewk, it must be the end of times!
igmFull MemberI suggest EU should start threatening UK a bit more … Go on they know they want to.
Wasn’t aware they had threatened us. Please do enlighten me mr bureaucrat.
Protesting against a legitimate outcome of an election is doing exactly the opposite and I don’t understand why protestors cannot accept the result.
You may not understand it – in fact i believe that. Do broaden your mind. Protesting against things you don’t like, even if you have no belief it will change things, is the very essence of a free democratic state.
Ask Jamba about whether he though the Brexit vote would succeed (he freely told us often enough) but he still protested. Now the boot’s on the other foot it’s time for right thinking people everywhere, the silent majority to speak out against the small mindedness of things like Brexit and the innate racism of Trump. Do join us, it may be in your interests.igmFull MemberAnyway, I’m off to Nebraska in January I’ll find out what folk on the ground think then.
aracerFree MemberYeah – WTF was everybody doing protesting about us being members of the EU and refusing to accept the result of the 1975 referendum?
