Nixon didn’t really have a choice, Trumps ego wouldn’t let him and would you trust Pence ?

    dissonance

Don’t know if this is plausible

I cant see why Pence would want to do that? Trumps value is in allowing them to stuff the courts with right wing nutjobs. Whilst he is doing that then he gets support but once he fails to do that then who knows. If he is on the way out why bother investing in him for all the bad press which could be thrown your way?

As for the view that he was sitting on ‘…a tiny chair’ he wasn’t; they were both sitting on identical chairs.
Trump’s posture, oversized suit jacket and obesity combined to give the impression his chair was tiny.
Was one of his team having a cheap laugh?
    Would like to think so.

Also, the ‘pardon for all crimes’ only applies to federal stuff IIRC. The New York State stuff could still see him in prison.

    Which would be sad. 😐

So, Trump is stirring up the Beirut incident to be a military attack, after “some very good generals identified the explosion as weapon based in origin”

    He really is very dangerous.

So he refuses to acknowledge Russia had been offering bounties to Taliban fighters as his intel is uncorroborated, but happy to suggest this was ‘a bomb of some kind’ after a chat with his ‘great generals’?

There are some classic moments in that interview. I think the best went something like

    – “So would you say that John Lewis’s legacy is impressive?”

    – “I’ll say it again, no-one in this county has done more for Black Americans…”

shit, is he about to say something with a slight hint of dignity here?

    “…. than me.”

    😆

The comic timing was absolutely perfect. I laughed so loudly I startled the cat 😆

Is also saying that mail-in voting in Florida is OK because it’s tried/tested/safe/proven there.
Not OK in any other state.

Jeremy Bowen was interviewed this morning. Something of a leading authority on the region. When asked about this aspect of it he said ‘Netanyahu could do with a war’

A couple of journalists have been investigating his Scottish investments and they’re convinced all roads lead there

Thanks for that link, that was an intriguing read! Particularly liked the chap putting the Mexican flag up when trump built a fence around his house!

What’s Trump’s link with Scotland Yard then? He was talking today about China, TikTok etc. and he was saying that he forced Boris to drop Huawei, if we didn’t we could forget about Scotland Yard?

Deaths as a proportion of cases tells you how deadly the virus is. Deaths as a proportion of the population tells you how deadly the Trump administration is.

Trump’s trying to play it both ways  – he’s claiming US figures look bad because of the amount of testing they are doing and that they are therefore detecting and reporting a higher proportion of infections than other countries. Here in the UK for instance -for quite a while at least – you only got a test if you were ill enough to have to go to hospital so many mild and asymptomatic cases are unreported.

But he’s then boasting that the US is doing well in terms of Deaths as a Proportion of Cases – that’s not a measure of treating the very sick more successfully than other countries do its an artefact of having a large testing regime and therefore detecting and reporting mild and asymptomatic infections that other would countries miss

I would guess that he wouldn’t know the difference between UK security departments and would lump them all under the banner of Scotland yard. No doubt educated about such matters from fictional tv shows rather than listening to briefings.

Just in case you missed it, today’s emissions from the odious orange buffoon include assertions that ‘…this thing is going away’ and children are ‘…almost immune’.

There should be more words of wisdom in trump’s presser today; can’t wait.

If he’s bullshitting about reports of some kind of ‘Bomb attack’ in Beirut…

…he won’t be impeached and then quietly escorted to the games room with a nice hot chocolate. he’ll get to hold onto his shitty throne. Trump/MAGA supporters see him as ‘strong on the enemy’. ‘Enemy’ being (according to Trumpland Inc) China, Canada, Europe, the entire Muslim world, N. Korea, South America. Probably Australia too after that last interview. Maybe throw in NZ for daring beat him at Covid.

Could this be his last-ditch pathetic effort towards attaining ‘his’ war in the ME? I notice he’s still using Covid19 as a sabre-rattling venue with China. He really is a horribly dangerous, narcissistic man-child. I can’t even laugh at the **** anymore.

Those interested in (all the) Trump’s (families) illegal activities with the Trump Organisation, would do well to read Mary Trumps biography/ history of her father (Too Much and Never Enough) and his relationship with the rest of the Trumps. While she clearly isn’t an disinterested bystander, she sets out pretty plainly how the Trump siblings stole their father’s money and avoided the tax due.

Donald, and the rest of the Trumps know full well that a reckoning’s a’coming…

More about Angry Tinkerbell and that rant about Biden and God:

In a Desperate Rant, Trump Nonsensically Says Biden Will ‘Hurt God, Hurt the Bible’

The Israelis were very quick to deny any involvement, they are usually more vague if they are involved, apparently.

The Israeli government were among the first to offer aid, despite calling the Lebanon an ‘enemy’ state.
Although, a conspiracy theorist could claim that would be a good way of gaining influence over the country and its government – destroy its capital city then give massive humanitarian aid.
Nah, nobody could be that cold-blooded and devious!
I’m not being serious, but if I can think of it, someone else certainly can.

Jesus Christ her really is sounding more and more deranged. I had a good chuckle at this on Biden:

    ‘He’s against energy.’

    Whit?!

I think since he goes on about not our kind of energy he is probably referring to coal or maybe shale oil.
On the other hand he could just be babbling even worse than normal. Maybe time to retake that very hard test.

Yeah, Biden has a green energy plan, carbon-free workplaces by 2030 stuff like that. So Trump has been travelling to the oil states telling them the radical left are shutting down oil, getting rid of fracking etc. etc.

Trump seems completely unaware of (or ignores) the growth of renewable energy in the US.

His latest press conference/campaign rally at his own golf club yesterday 🙄

What’s he on about with these executive orders? My understanding is they can’t involve spending (i.e. he has no budget, has to go through congress).

Trump responds well to be called out as a liar/maker of false statements in a press conference

“You said that you passed Veterans Choice. It was passed in 2014…it was a false statement, sir.”

I kind of knew all this but reading it again is pretty shocking – https://edition.cnn.com/2020/06/29/politics/trump-phone-calls-national-security-concerns/index.html

The extent of his sucking up to Putin and Erdogan is really quite revolting.

“Why do you keep saying that you passed Veterans Choice?” CBS News White House correspondent Paula Reid asked Trump at the Saturday news conference, during which Trump announced executive actions on coronavirus relief.

As Trump tried to call on another reporter instead, Reid continued, “You said that you passed Veterans Choice. It was passed in 2014…it was a false statement, sir.”

Trump paused, then responded: “OK. Thank you very much, everybody.” He then walked away as the song “YMCA” played.

😂 Love that YMCA blared out at the end.

The whole ‘press conference’ was cringeworthy. A coronavirus update with an audience of jeering and laughing Trump golf club members (membership fee around $300k)? When Trump was making a point of the stress that lockdown put on marriages they all laughed? FFS.
