They were a hardcore skate thrash-type band years ago…when I was at college…ermm..****. 20 years ago.
anyone know where I can download some of da shit?

2 blokes in the band were called Tommy Stupid and Stevie Snax if that helps.

I thought you meant the 1996 John landis film where about the adventures of the fictional family Stupids, whose last name coincidentally describes what their behavior is often considered- stupid. The story begins with Stanley Stupid, the patriarch, thinking that the "sender" from the stamp "return to sender" on letters is a wicked man who plans a conspiracy. Adding several mix-ups and misunderstandings, the family unintentionally and unwittingly save the world from military chaos, while still believing a fake story about a fictional man called Sender and his plot to confiscate everyone’s mail and trash.
‘Cos, if you had done it sounds sh!t.

But… as you mean the band – they came from Ipswich did 3 sessions forJohn Peel and are supposed to be releasing an album this year.

not sure if you’d be interested, but they got back together last year and are playing some awful huge ‘punk’ festival in blackpool later in the year.

oh, and i dunno where you could DL stuff; i still have all my stupids records!

I’ve got a couple of albums in the loft, but I can’t be arsed getting them and then wiring up a turntable to something.

Having said that, I’ve got some Butthole Surfers up there too, so it could be worth the effort after all.

hold on then, i’ll ask on one of the punk rock forums… aston/boss tuneage posts there too and he is putting out their new recordings so there’s a chance i can find some of the back catalogue online…

jason- hmm, sorry; since they all got reissued last year by visible noise and/or boss tuneage, there doesn’t appear to be any active YouSendIt/Sendspace type links for any of their stuff at the moment.

Tommy stupid (Tom Withers)was a couple of years below me at school in Ipswich.
I remember him as a small blond haired boy with pebble glasses!

I saw them at the hummingbird too, Remember seeing tommy stupid leave the stage and clatter his head off the lighting rig…
Bug blood was always a favourite.

Yeah I remember them, like them on record, but they never pulled it off live whenever I saw them. They always seemed liked they were trying to play too fast.
I saw them at an all dayer at the Hummingbird, they came on, tuned up for about 15mins and played too fast, they were followed by the Hard Ons, who came on, plugged in, played fast and rocked.
Somewhere I have a cd with Ed Shred on called Chocolate, I liked that, I’ll try and dig it out and see if that was the bands name or the eps name.

they’re doing a bunch of gigs later in the year with the hard ons too.
the split 10" they both did (where they did one anothers’ songs and a couple of covers) was probably my favourite release of theirs.
and i preferred the hard ons too.

still, my favourite UKHC band from that era was probably doctor and the crippens. if anyone else saw them live, then surely you know what i mean if i mention the cabbage bombs?

If that copy of Peruvian Vacation has the songs from Violet Nun on it, then that’s all I can find as well.

Fridge is the best song still

    life’s a drag.

born to skate (aka born to built to grind)… granted, musically a cover version (more or less!) but still great nonetheless.
