What confused me tho is why he got a train at Glenfinnan to ride his bike in the pentlands?

Is he possibly the best bike rider out there? Apart from the amazing trials stuff he’s doing slopestyle tricks off tiny jumps, casing a double into frontflip. Jumping off that roof to flat.

I think this comes up every time he makes a vid. He’s obviously a super talented rider and if he were to specialize in any one discipline he would probably do very well (age and time dependent). But I think you could say that about most high level bike athletes.

He’s a great all-rounder which helps his videos and his down to earth, easy going and likeable personality are a big part of his appeal and marketability.

Great vid and fantastic riding for sure

It just seems he has 100% control over everything, all the time, on a level I’ve never seen from anyone else.

Without wanting to get into a debate about who is better then whom etc, there are lots of top riders who’s bike control leaves you wondering if they are part cyborg. For one go and have a look at any Ruben Alcantara video segment.

Enjoyed that but not as enjoyable as The Ridge or Imaginate.

But my favourite thing is imagining how awesome it would be not to have to stop to open gates on rides

Exactly what I was thinking (I have an 11 mile winter loop that has 6 gates and 2 stiles).

Although he doesn’t do it on first attempt so may be better just to open the gate…

I found Imaginate completely naff – the trickery and gimmickry detracted from the actual riding. In my mind where people like Danny display imagination is in identifying riding opportunities in everyday settings – chain link fences, straw bales takes more wit than a fake toy tank.

Really really enjoyed that- the humour came across as self deprecating, almost playing the stunts for laughs rather than going for spectacular wow-factor. Which again shows his imagination as it’s so different to The Ridge or Imaginate.

Would love to see him do a DH WC race or even better compete in Rampage.

Not sure I get you, they are both a million miles from what he does for a living

legend – that’s exactly why I’d love to see it! He’s great at trials and slow speed tricks, he’d obviously be very good at any other 2 wheeled discipline but how good compared to pro DH and freeriders? And maybe more interestingly what would he think of it?

Same here – I didn’t really like Imaginate, but I thought this was brill. Really really brill.

    ABSOLUTELY. LOVE. THAT!

For me that’s as good as anything he’s done. It’s just so incredibly charming and great fun. It was like watching a Chris Akrigg video done by Hollywood, but with a sense of humour. Superb.

The next big challenge I’d love to see Danny take on is the “one take”. Clearly these tricks are incredibly difficult and take many, many goes to nail. Seeing several tricks done successfully in one go would be incredible. At the risk of being negative, Danny’s tricks *could* get a bit like CGI in the sense they no longer impress and are the minimum expectation. I hope they keep getting cleverer rather than simply bigger.

He wouldn’t qualify. Maybe with a year of practice. Who knows. I’d love to watch him ride a WC DH track, but not against the clock.

I think it also missed the point that it took three days to get that ‘slide down a log’ shot. Yes it takes skill, yes he has skill, but it also takes lots and lots of attempts.

And look at the credits carefully, “props by ….. ramp builders”. He’s not bunnyhopping over everything, it’s a mix of hidden ramps and multiple attempts, same as most trials/bmx videos.

For comparison here’s the Ruben Alcantara video with the ‘that wall ride’ in the storm drain. It even starts with a train ride.

“He wouldn’t qualify”. Of course not. I wasn’t about to ring Red Bull up and propose it, was just a thought.

True that it took attemps but the tricks are damn hard compared to the very different but relatively easy task of riding down a track. I can ride down a WC track after a dry run looking at lines, but give me all the attempts in the world and I won’t get a single trick from that video!

What I mean is it’d be interesting to see how he’d do. I don’t expect for one minute he’d just rock up and win, but I’m sure he wouldn’t lose either…

Take Guy Martin, he’s a motorcycle racer who has a go at other very different stuff, and it’s very interesting to see how he does and how sometimes he’s better than people who specialise in what he’s having a go at

Is there a highlights edit for that Ruben Alcantara video? 2 minutes passed before I even saw anyone ride a bike! Say what you want about the skills of Danny versus the top BMXers, but Cut Media sure know how to make an entertaining video of him. I gave up on Alcantara after 6 minutes, 5 1/2 of which were tedious black and white “scene setters”.
