I’m intending to re-build my Planet-X cyclocross wheelset (non-disc) as the original spec spokes are naff plain guage and break too easily.

Thinking of doing radial pattern on the front and non-driveside of the rear. With DT Revolutions. I’m not a heavy chap but I ride hard and like to jump about quite a lot.

What do you think about doing radial patterns? Anyone have any experience? And where’s best (cheapest) to buy a small/mixed order of spokes? Any alternatives to the Revs?

Radial is ok as long as they’re built well (even tension), with threadlock on the nipples and your hubs can take it (most hubs aren’t designed for it, and you could void any warranty if you lace them radial). As long as the hubs are ok they should be plenty strong and stiff enough. If it was me I’d do them 3x though for ‘cross (but I’m heavy and over-cautious).

DT Super Comps are triple butted and uber strong, but a bit heavier. Revs are great though.

UK Bike Part sell Revs individually, £1 for black or 95p for silver.
