Is a new front mech/shifter combo needed for this? Plus what is the ideal chainring (and cassette combo)?

My Jake’s tripple chainset gearing felt to ‘hard’ so I swapped the 11-25 casette for a 13-30 and the middle ring now seems redundant (plus it favours the granny ring side of the cassette).

    Any thought’s on what’s best?

What are you trying to achieve?

If a triple (with granny ring) is too hard for you, a double set up is going to be higher geared again. Unless you are thinking along the lines of a MTB granny/middle only set up in which case you will probably have to change the front mech to one with a chain guide more appropriate to the smaller chainrings.
