I've always been tempted to build up a group b style pug 205. They're so much fun even in GTi form.

A friend offered me a drive in his 6R4. I politely declined explaining that I'd rather the cam belt didn't snap with me at the wheel. The cam belt snapped shortly after. The 6R4 sums up the state of the British motor industry at the time: flawed in many respects.

Rallying is all but dead with not even a handfull of companies still prepared to invest. I enjoyed the heyday and the G4 Escort and Fiat Mirafiori duels were IMO the best of rallying before things got out of hand. My own cars were group N but Graham Hickman was good enough to let me out in "TUM", a 220bhp G4 Escort - the fastest tractor ever made.

Rohl - Audi [/url]

Check out this with Walter Rohl in his Audi (and the background Porno music!). The control he has over the car is amazing, and his footwork on the pedals; outstanding. The H&S bods wouldn't like all those spectators on the stage like that these days....like the parting of the Sea! Enjoy... 🙂

EDIT: try this one...the link seems screwed or i just cant manage to stick it in here

Four Montes in four different cars for Herr Rohl IIRC. He is still seen regularly on German TV, as often on a bike as in a car.

Zed - if that was a red 308 run up north then it was probably Nigel Worswick.

Err...It was the yellow one, in the pic I posted at the top of page 2.

IIRC it's one of the glassfibre bodied 308's, & it's running a fuel injection system designed & built by Tony Worswick.

I used to work for Worwicks. I once nearly dropped a cast iron gate valve through the front end of Nigel's cossie. Oops.
Got to drive a group N astra round an industrial estate one. It had forest tyres on it and while I thought I was going really quick the car obviously didn't...
Another time a mate of mine went over to do the Manx International competing in the VW Polo challenge. That was bloody great. Especially when he won it.

I'm not sure if this has been posted yet.

But enjoy anyway. It's beautiful.

Mr Sparkle, do you remember Nigel Worswick buying a Group A racing Ford Capri 3.0 off Mike Newman ? He ( Nigel ) did the Gwynedd rally in 1985 & never got higher than 3rd gear due to the car still having its racing gear ratios fitted.

His rally came to a premature end when the flywheel parted company with the crankshaft, tore through the floorpan & landed on the co-drivers feet... 😯

Good old Ashley forest! Used to be a good days viewing on Tele. Back when they used to show the good stuff on Tele. Remember there being a few V8 chevettes and some home built wonders. Thanks Kiwijohn.

Crikey! No, bit before my time that. Was Clive Molyneux the co-driver then?
