    Hi,

    Quick question.

Just got a new 1×12 SRAM NX hardtail and I would like to upgrade the chainring from 30t to either 32 or 34t. Could I get away with keeping the existing chain?

Only way to tell is try it out. Many (stock) builds have an overly long chain. Put the new chainring on and if the chain is too short, install a longer chain.

You may be able to work out how much surplus you have when in bottom gear

IIRC 2 extra teeth on the chainring does not mean two extra links needed?

You deffo need to suck it and see.
If its currently near the max and you go 34 you can add an extra single link and second split link..

Yes TJ, only half the chainring is engaged with the chain.

See what http://www.machinehead-software.co.uk/bike/chain_length/chainlengthcalc.html says, a 2T increase might be absolute fine.
