Need to get my car back to a presentable state in order to make it more saleable.
Need a trigger spray to clean the plastic and leather trims .
Autoglym used to be good, but not used any for a long time.
Something to wipe over then buff up with a microfiber cloth would be ideal
External finish is fine, got autosmart cut and wax for that .
Over the counter would be good but online purchase is also acceptable..
    Many thanks

When I sold my last car privately I went to town with the Hoover and and a small paint brush and got dust and dirt out of every nook and cranny, then from between the seat squabs. It looked great. Then I used warm soapy water to wash down all the plastics inside, then cleaned up with a damp cloth

The bloke who bought it was delighted, he took one look and said it’s great, I’m sick of looking at cars that have been shone up to try and look new. I really like your honesty and I can see you’ve put in a decent effort to make it an attractive buy

He didn’t even haggle. Paid full price.

Avoid stuff with silicone in it. Just my personal view as I hate the slippy finish it leaves. Other than that, warm slightly soapy wet microfibre to wipe done and a dry microfibre to dry afterwards. Seems to work on most marks and stains.

I like the Amorol cleaner and prefer the Matt version to avoid shine in windscreen.

Even made my work vehicles come up like new !

Regular bathroom cleaner spray stuff works great. If you use kitchen stuff it often has bleach in it which might discolour stuff.

I like the autoglym detailer for sprucing up the interior of my car.

I just use a big spray bottle of multi purpose cleaner from Screwfix @£7.99

    Works great and smells good

If you don’t already have any of the stuff, and you don’t intend on using it again in the future, then maybe just getting a pro in might make sense? You’ll spend a fair chunk on products if you go that route, not as much as a valet but a good chunk of the way there, and they know all the tricks.

Me, I use soapy water, random household cleaning products that seem appropriate, whatever old brushes I can find, and a can of brake cleaner for the really stubborn ooze. But then I quite like cleaning cars that way, it’s labour intensive but satisfying. I only clean mine about once a year, once the mud on teh floor touches the roof, so it’s kind of nice to take time over it.

Autoglym is still good, when I bought my car, the dealer gave it a thorough cleaning and a protective coat over the paint, and I got a full Autoglym bag with all of the various sprays in, some I’ve never used, like the tyre and bumper stuff, but I use the wash, the spray wax, and the interior cleaners, including the upholstery – there were some stains from the previous owners, it was a Motability car, so not unusual. A couple of goes with the upholstery cleaner, followed by a scrub with a nail brush, then gone over with a damp microfibre cloth, and it’s peachy.

I’m going to have to replace the wax polish soon, that’s got fairly low now.

I just use Mr Sheen on everything apart from the windows. 2 kids under 13 though, totally waste of time cleaning it. 😀

I use Auto Finesse Total. Spray on and wipe off, easy.

Baby wipes are brilliant for this job.

If your interior is made of plastic and has a rough texture then the best ive found is using a spray bottle of Muc off and agitate with a Badger’s/Goat’s hair brush then wipe clean with a microfibre cloth

I was quite surprised how much grime it pulled out of my dash and door cards!

Am currently giving the interior of mine a going over for the same reason.  Things like door shuts and less visible trim I use a damp microfibre and cold water as a first “wash”.  It’s amazing how much yuck that simple combo will lift.

I’m working on the seats at the minute (well I’m having lunch then going back to that).  I bought an upholstery brush (like a big nail brush) the other week and that is lifting an incredible amount of dust from the cloth. 🤢

I’ve generally found AutoGlym stuff pretty ok for routine domestic quality car cleaning.  If I was into detailing I’m sure there would be better/more expensive options but I reckon it sits in a good value spot.

The interior shampoo and vinyl& rubber care products are my interior go to.

Mountain biking, sailing and hairy dogs dictate more regular hoovering than I have been doing!

I use warm water with a dash of vinegar. If it smells there’s a chemical vapour thing I ve seen on high peak autos yt channel, its 20 quid, his cars are minging on purchase, you mix this with water and close all windows leaving it overnight.

Went with autoglym leather cleaner and a pack of new microfibre cloths.
Trick seems to be to hoover as much as possible out . Then clean crevices with a toothbrush to lift out the stubborn bits .
Then get it covered in cleaning solutions and apply elbow grease.
It’s coming up well but as usual these things take time and I am fence painting and preparing for a replacement garage door install over the next few days.

I use Halfords interior cleaner for fabrics. it’s pretty good.  I used some with a magic eraser foam thing on the door leather scuffs and it was amazingly good – then I tried an experiment and pushed it across a leather panel that I thought was already clean and it left a bright clean stripe in one pass.  Don’t go nuts with it because it’s slightly abrasive, but it’s extremely effective.

I use Meguiars for most car cleaning duties but it’s now much more expensive than only 12-18 months ago.

For leather car seats – Zymol.

Autoglym or Demon, for “reasonable price” brand.

Most general purpose household spray cleaners are ok. Check bleach content though. As already pointed out.

Long run, little and often – 10 minutes hover and wipe, every couple of weeks, works wonders and makes it a much nicer office to sit in.

anyone have an idea how i can repair a bit of plastic trim on a door card? my 8 year old has scratched his name into it with a sharp stick. i was not impressed….

Alcohol seems to mess up the anti-glare coating on touchscreens.
