Cane Creek 40 headset on K’s Spectral has a knackered seal (The seal is attached to a flat metal ring that’s all distorted out of shape) and it’s not available as a spare part. Otherwise fine but the weird anti-bar spin top cap makes fitting and tensioning it difficult (and doesn’t even work) so I’m thinking better to change the lot.

Superstar complete headset is the price of a Hope top set. Anything wrong with them? Any other suggestions?

Have you tried SJS or Tweeks? Both carry Cane Creek 40 spares.

I bought one a while back for my Capra; when the cups were pressed into the frame the bearings wouldn’t fit. Superstar claimed that the frame needed reaming but the replacement nukeproof headset fit perfectly. Personally if I was going the cheaper route I’d go for a nukeproof one or spend that bit more on the hope if not.

Even if superstar made the best products going the customer service is enough to put me off using them again.

FSA do a decent set for about 25 quid.

Hey, I am trying to replace a 2018 Spectral headset. The bottom bearing was corroded into the cup so I need to replace both cup and bearings. What size is the bottom assembly size you used? Canyon told me IS52 but I’ve measured the headset at 55.7mm so that doesnt sound right, so I was guessing it should take a ZS56?
