slowly realising i/we could do with one of these, after ive just had to sell the sprints tickets that i bought in may, because me and my wife are going away that weekend *angry emoji*  and yes, it was me that booked the weekend but i just didnt remember the gig dates.

ive already got a ‘shiftwork’ app with my next years shifts logged, but my wife cant see these, and i cant see her workdays on anything either. ideally id like something that we can both log our shifts on, can also put birthdays, days out, with ‘notifications’ maybe a week before to prevent forgetful accidents.

i wondered if google calendar would do the trick, but it doesnt look to be.  does such an app exist that we can both edit and sync with each other, and also notify us of upcoming events?  and no, a paper/singletrack calendar wont cut it 🙂

    thanks

We use an app called family wall, let’s you both add calendar events and you can choose who sees it so you can have joint things or things just for you. It also let’s you share lists.
We use the free version but you can pay for extra functions

Google Calendar is exactly what you want, I think.

You can have multiple calendars. So for instance you can have a personal calendar with stuff that’s only relevant to you like perhaps work notes; a shared calendar you can both see; a separate Birthdays calendar which auto-populates from data in Contacts; other apps integrate, I use Trip-It which scrapes emails for travel bookings; there’s an actual “family” calendar which automatically shares with people you designate as family (I’ve never used this); etc.

Has anyone suggested Google Calendar? That’s what we use.

    Also,

no, a paper/singletrack calendar wont cut it

Any system will work so long as you’re both diligent in populating it. I used a shared Google calendar back with my ex and it solved scheduling arguments at a stroke. If it’s not in the calendar then you / I waive any rights to claim “I told you about this weeks ago.”

My current is a technophobe, everything she does is on paper. But again, critically, she always keeps it up to date. “Sync” is me going downstairs to see what’s written down and then copying it into GCal, which is a bit of a bind but it works.

thanks chaps, looks like google calendar might do the job after all then.

*toddles off to see if i can work out how to put a shift pattern onto it.

    thanks

If you use Outlook at work, there’s a little app I used to use called gsyncit which will import/export/sync with GCal.
