    Hi,

I’m thinking about a new bike (what’s new!) especially as my Stiffee is out of action and my Prophet is suffering from the ravages of winter.

Anyway i’m looking for something to sit in between, nothing new as i can’t afford it, old classics would do nicely. It needs to be burly as it will be put through it’s paces and needs to be hardy for peak district slop and grit and can ideally take a Pike fork.

I used to have a Spesh SX Supercross which would have been perfect but the bb was too low for me, anything else in a similar vain.

um, if you can find one a Transition Preston – the older ones were 4″ travel. Or perhaps a Kona Dawg?

I would suggest a Blur 4X as I’ve got one and I think it’s the perfect allrounder but it doesn’t like the uk slop etc (lots of bearings).

There aren’t many of this type of frame out there and I think it’s a market that is underserved by the bike manufacturers, short travel doesn’t have to mean racey!

yes i agree it’s an overlooked market maybe, ihaven’t looked at the Prestons i’ll keep an eye out

and yes the less pivots the better!
