Any tips on saddle sores… treatment and prevention.
Never had one before…until now! Think it’s due to some poor quality bib tights coupled with repeated soakings on the daily commute and having to wear wet gear on the way home.
So what should I use to treat it and any tips on preventing them?
Took some time to find a comfy position on the ride to work this morning! Anyone got a rubber ring!

Ear we go; another bottom-related thread!

Repeated soakings… that’ll be ‘Trench Arse’, then, in my steamed medical onion.

Vindaloo for some special vocal effects (entertainment for everybody but you).
    Seriously – seconded Kingtut’s opinion.

Off to raid the nappy bag…is it wrong to steal from the baby?

I think babies are there to be stolen from; wet-wipes, sterilising fluid, rusks, creams, money given by relatives…

vodka, for the anaesthetic properties and sterilising a gert big pin; and a mirror.

    You know the rest.

Then second the sudocrem to resolve this one and Assos to prevent a further episode (although actually I’ve started using Udderly Smooth which does just as well for half the price IMHO. You can add a bit of Vicks or Deep Heat to the mix if you miss the tingle)

Saddle sores are usually an indication of inadequate hygiene (i.e. riding home in wet gear) prevent by drying your gear before riding home or ideally taking a second pair of undershorts to ride home in. I’ve also found that taking some wet wipes or antiseptic wipes to clean ‘down there’ when you arrive at work can also be beneficial.

Other things that can help are the creams mentioned above.

In case you haven’t got them, mudguards make the biggest difference to how wet your arse gets.

Think you’re right Roadie…it’s the wet gear. Going to put some spare shorts in my locker for the return journey. Been using the wet wipes…another thing stolen from the baby!
