There was a thread on this a while back but can’t find it.

I honestly fear for Brooks safety in this fight, everything I have seen gives me the impression that he is going to take a hiding.

Big step up in weight and class for brook obviously, what has he had now 30 odd fights? with no-one even near golovkins class, but then has golovkin had it all his own way because everyone is beaten by fear before they step in with him?.Oh and maybe because he hits like a mule aswell:).

I think Brook looks to have taken the extra weight well. In terms of whether he will win is another matter. I think he mat give a better account compared to the Khan v Alvarez. Has Brook been stopped? Its a shame Alvarez vacated rather than fight GGG. I’m still waiting for Superman v Kovalev.

Brook went life and death with Carson Jones

    Golovkin destroys him

Getting quite excited by this fight now.. Brook looking quite slick. A lot of pundits have highlighted the front foot to being the key to GGG power shots. Its quite remarkable how much power he can generate and the number of shots in succession whilst keeping his balance.

Its going to be a good fight.. Go special one!

By good I assume you mean massacre?

At least Khan had the speed and range to keep Canelo off him for a good few rounds.

GGG will just walk Brook down. That left to the body 8)

Liston/clay -Miami,foreman/ali -Kinshasa,douglas/Tyson- Tokyo,brook/golovkin-manchester….can you feel the shock coming? Nope neither did these unbeatable monsters. personally I don’t think brook is all that but crazy shit sometimes happens to these unbeatable ogres, maybe not when someone comes up 2 weights tho.

I fear that Brook will last a while in there, that is never going to be good. GGG in 6-8.

Except none of the fights you’ve mentioned had the shock victor jumping up 2 weight divisions. Nor is Brook even fit to be mentioned in the same breath as Clay/Ali or even Douglas who over achieved that night plus I highly doubt GGG is coked up and not training a la Tyson pre Tokyo.

    Brook has fought NO ONE!

Yeah, Brook won’t have the power to deter GGG, unfortunately. Brook is a smart boxer, so the plan must be to outpoint Golovkin. Be fantastic if he upsets the odds, but can’t see it! Retires on his stool after rnd 9.#

Oh yeah, like an idiot I’ve agreed to go to a party on Sat eve. A party! I hate parties! 🙁

It does make it all the more enticing seeing no one in GGGs division fancied a fight 🙂

Brook does look naturally bigger unlike Khan when he stepped up. I like an underdog story and in reality Brook will perform as well if not better than GGGs previous contenders.
You have to respect Brook for stepping into the ring with GGG and putting his 0 on the line. Yes I know money plays a large part but he is willing to step up and test himself against the current best P4P fighter.

Looking at the rankings, I can see why Kell would risk the fight. There are no big money fighters in the light mid division apart from Alvarez. I doubt he can make welter anymore, where Keith Thurman would’ve been another massive, but lower paid risk.
Those boring Charlo brothers at light middle wouldn’t earn him much.
Maybe he’ll move down and sort them both out on the same night after the GGG fight 🙂

He’d make more money fighting Khan than he will GGG. Way more PPV buys for that.

Yeah but if he loses to GGG, then he’ll still get the Khan fight, whereas if he lost to Khan, he wouldn’t get GGG..

Yeah Golovkin’s one of those win-win cliche situations, whereas Khan, lose that and… plummet

Last 2 posts are spot on. At worst for Brook this will be more exposure/ clamour/ PPV tokens for the fight with Khan. At best he could pull of a massive upset

I just can’t see how anyone can make a case for Brook. The only fighter of any note on his ledger is Porter who he beat on a majority decision. Porter won his belt from Devon Alexander who couldn’t punch his way out a wet paper bag and defended it against Malignaggi who couldn’t punch his way out a wet paper bag even if you ripped it open for him.

Looking great against the likes of JoJo Dan, Frankie “funtime” Gavin and Kevin Bizier who are, quite frankly, nobodies at world level, does not give him the reputation to suggest he’ll even remotely trouble GGG.

He certainly doesn’t qualify as a title challenger at middleweight in the “real world” scheme of things. Good job boxing is so unpredictable innit!

It’s feels so one sided I’d almost feel guilty watching.

The weight classes are a joke. So many alphabet titles and soft “world champions” in each division. You have jokers like Broner jumping up to fight Malignaggi and claim he’s a bond fide WW champ 🙄

Anyway, never mind Brook, Gonzalez is fighting on Saturday night on Boxnation. Tempted to stay up for that.

But I’m sure we’ll all tune in all the same to watch it on saturday night.. except those with invitations to parties ! 🙂

Atleast you will get a bang out of this fight.

If I wasn’t away I’d be buying this, not because its going to be competative, but because Brook has stepped up to the plate unlike some of the other ‘top’ fighters who have ducked him blatently. My distain for Alvarez grows by the day.

Agree with bob however, this will be brutal, no way can he keep him off for 12 rounds. GGG in 6, or less if he catches him earlier.

Monzon must be turning in his grave seeing Brook fight for the lineal MW crown..

At least its not Khan vs GGG however. Sanctioning that would be paramount to legalised murder.

I’ve heard a lot about him but is Roman Gonzales really that good ?

Brook went life and death with Carson Jones, he doesnt have great speed or length to keep GGG at bay. I expect a huge ring and for him to try and run and hope Uncle Eddie can sweeten the judges Golovkins footwork is outstanding and he will cut the ring down and break Brook down

Yes. Unreal. It’s just a shame he fights at such a low weight which rarely gets the attention outside the dedicated fans.

If he retired tomorrow he’d leave a wafer thin legacy.
He’s gone through them like a dose of salts, of course, and quite possibly he really is as good as he looks. I don’t think he’ll ever realise the level his fans put him at, though, as he won’t have the time.

    Hmm.

So GGG only arrived in the UK on Sunday. Doesn’t give him much time to prep here. Been training up in Big Bear, jet lag etc. He cut the press conference short yesterday to go back to his hotel as he wasn’t feeling well. On top of that, he looks like a corpse

He may be ill or just got the weight cut wrong.

    This could be interesting.

And maybe secretly underestimating a little-known welterweight making the jump to middle to challenge him… fingers crossed eh!

Bunce said the same thing – well one of them did- on 5 live boxing programme
Said he looked really low at the press conference

Hard to bet against triple G but brok is sounding confident

I think, as they said in the show, he is a boxer who really wants to test himself against the best rather than protect an 0

    That deserves respect
Whether it turns out to be brave or stupid we will soon find out. Both I suspect

They were talking about him looking gaunt on the radio yesterday, I think it will make little difference. Could be all a put up job by Hearn 😆

I never know what to make of Steve Bunce, he managed to flip flop on the outcome about 4 times last night. I find him entertaining but never quite sure of how much he knows.

This golovkin hype train is out of control, clearly he is a very tough good boxer and is expected to win against a guy coming up to meet him,but you would swear golovkin has a record filled with wins against the sugar ray leonards of the day?? .

Brook looking in good shape..This has the hallmarks of Fury v Klitchko and we know how that went

With Golovkin it’s more about the way he’s beaten them. (As gifs on the prev page have demonstrated)

I know golovkin is so feared people vacate the belt rather than face him, doesnt make his record better though does it,he’s fought no-one outstanding, just like brook hasn’t.

Styles makes fights and this one has it in abundance.. GGG not looking like a world champion at the moment but can a 75% GGG still win? It seems like this is as good a time to have a crack at him.
