I needed to change all the bearings in my Cotic Hemlock.
The main frame bearings were blind due to having a sleeve between them that had got stuck in place.

I looked at the price of blind bearing removal kits (about £120) before realising that concrete stud fixings were pretty much the same.

So used a M10 concrete anchor, drifted down the pin to splay out the legs and put a bolt in to keep them in place, and then drifted the bearings out easily from the other side.

Now hopefully I can find a bearing stockist open on a Saturday morning!

Also works well when the bearing falls apart just leaving the outer shell stuck in the hole…

4 bearing stockists around here and all Mon-Fri only 🙁

I should have looked at it one evening instead of waiting until today!

I like that idea a lot, I was also impressed when I saw a repair stand on the pavement in Chengdu having a bit of trouble getting a bearing out of a person pulled rubbish cart, after a couple minutes difficulty he reached for the stick welder and blobbed a couple quick sparks between the drift and bearing and promptly hit it out, all while the public were wandering by.
