    Hi,

I need a bag for computing which can take my laptop, pair of shoes, shirt, trousers, lunchbox and a few small bits, and would be waterproof. Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

I’ve used a Berghaus Freeflow daily for about 2 years and it’s just about to give up – unless I re-stitch it and replace the zip
I carry pretty much the same as you and it has a waterproof cover
it cost £60 which is pretty expensive but it’s lasted well

looks like this in red and black – although there is a new version out now

I use a CamelBak Cloud Walker (link) which does me well, and I’m carrying a similar amount to you. Laptop goes in a sleeve at the back, clothes go into one of these Eagle Creek ‘cubes’[/url] and then lunch goes at the top. My D-lock goes inside at the back, and cable right at the top.

It would be a push to get shoes in too, but I’ve done it before. I leave mine under my desk, or else have squashable shoes if I must carry them.

The bag doesn’t say it’s waterproof, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised that it has dealt with the worst Scottish weather has thrown at it.

If you’re going on dark roads, you might want to put a reflective cover over it, which would also deal with the waterproofing aspect.

ALpkit Gourdon? £17.50 so you can get several in different colours 😉

My alpkit gourdon whilst good value does seem to sit quite high on my back and obscures my view when I look round.

A similar but pricier option maybe one of those Ortlieb ‘messenger’ bags. (and before anyone comments, its actually a proper rucsac with two straps) Got a good write up recently in ST mag.

I use a camelbak cross 20. Has a laptop sleeve, rain cover, no complaints.
