I’ve got a couple of Android phones to get rid of – one Sony and one Samsung. I’ve got all the manufacturer’s software to pull data off, but no idea if that’s the right way to go about it.

I also want to transfer all the data to a newer Samsung. I’m only really after photos, not fussed about app data.

Is there one app to rule them all? Is it a case of using manufacturer software, or do I just pull old photos off via USB mass storage?

Have you set up a dropbox or google drive cloud storage account? You can back up the photos there (even set it up automatically) so you can access them from any device. Makes it easy for editing on the pc/mac too. Not sure about app data, but i do have some that back up to dropbox.

What “data”? Things like contacts should be synchronised to your Google account anyway. App data is app-dependent.

Titanium Backup is worth a look if you want “everything.”
