I bet at least one of you has tried, or know someone who has. Can it be done with the back seats down and both wheels off? Or even just front wheel off?

Not intended to be for main bike carrying duties, just as a standby when the proper car is needed elsewhere.

I’m not interested in roof racks or tow-bar mounts (just saying to save your valuable time).

Or should I just give up on a midlife crisis and get an Octavia estate?

My brother in law had one of the originals and I’m sure he could fit a bike in with the wheels off.

You could fit a set of winter tyres in the mk1, so my guess is probably 😝

Sounds promising. This will probably be a mk11, which I think has slightly more interior space than the mk1.

Mate used to get his fat bike emtb in the back of his Mk2 TT with the front wheel out with 2 of us in the front……
Ironically has a VRS estate now though

My girlfriend has some form of stupid black edition TT. Uncomfortable in the extreme. Tiny. Fun to drive for about 20 minute but that’s it. I find it easier to manoeuvre lwb Sprinters than this car, the visibility out of it should be illegal it’s so poor. Economy is awful. It eats front tyres too.

Seats dropped, wheels off, then a bike will definitely go in.

She’s had it for 3 years and put about 8000 miles on it. In the same time we’ve put about 30000 on my falling apart 12 year old Qashqai as hers is a **** waste of time.

It is fast though! I borrowed it in November…..got a speed awareness course next Tuesday as a result.

Thankfully both the TT and my pile of scrap are going as soon as she’s off furlough and we’re going to share an i3 instead.

300 quid in front tyres today it cost ffs.

Yes, many a time. Original one, quattro so with the shallower boot. I think with careful packing you could get two bikes in a 2wd one, and any other gear stuffed into the rear footwells. Might need the passenger seat uncomfortably far forward, mind.

You’ll be in for a shock when you need tyres for your i3.

£210 for a rear for mine 2 weeks after I got it, luckily the lease company paid.

Aye. Mates mkI 2WD coupe. 2 26ers all wheels off with us in the front. It was tight but doable!

That’s what most girlfriends are like.

I’ve had 2 full bikes in the back of a 944 before, and a tt is way more spacious than that so I’d be amazed if you couldnt

I’ve had two MTBs in the back of my mk2 (+ kit for a weekend away and a passenger) so yes, easy-peasy.

Utter tosh – I had mine for three years and it was lovely to drive and in no way tiny (although it was very cramped when I tried to get three adults in the back once) LOL.

If I could get any car from my past back it would probably be that car.

Sounds like you bought cheap ones.

We had one for about 6years ago, bought new, our retirement car, (yet we never retired) never tried to get a bike in, its hard enough getting any one in the back. I am not sure I would like to try with my Geometron!

    Subjective Footnote
I dont drive it much, its my wifes go to car but I find more comfortable than the mini it replaced better visibility to, reminds me of old school minis just good fun on the right road.
