You have distinct preference of Thinking over Feeling (62%)
You have moderate preference of Judging over Perceiving (33%)

Not sure what to make of that 😳

    I am ENTP.

The test has also indicated that I only use 1% of my brain power(Thinking) which means I have 99% brain power in reserve so you lot better watch out coz I will get you …

    😈

edit: oh ya … I have split personality that can transform myself into ENFP too … watch out you lot introverted kind … 😈

To be fair, you didn’t need to take a test for that, we could’ve told you.

    Who said nobody’s 100% Introvert? 😉

This might explain my extreme loathing of my employer’s recent move to open plan office space, though…

ISTP when I last did a questionairre years ago. Think I’ll try it again and see if it still comes out the same.

In simple terms it’s made up nonsense, there’s no science to it at all.

As a matter of interest, what sort of personality test would be scientific and non-made-up? (Genuine question, btw).

I score consistently as INTJ. I’ve seen the difference between introverts and extroverts described as on being drained by company with other people and the other being re-charged. Sounds about right.

I haven’t done the test yet but I am an introvert extrovert. My star sign is on the cusp of Leo and Virgo and (although I never, ever believe anything in ‘The Stars’), my ‘Star’ personality is spot on.

    About to take the test….

All both some of it and all of it.
I’ve done a couple, depends who is asking and what they want from me. It also depends what day of the week it is and how I woke up in the morning. The problem I have with this stuff is not the tests but what people do with them and expect it will tell them.

Costa & McCrae’s NEO and Eysenck’s EPQ are reasonably highly regarded.
I can go into lots more detail why but would prob bore you to sleep…..

    Yep, for example
They measure less constructs so can there are less false positive correlations
They don’t categorise people into nice discrete groups
They are slightly more complicated to score as they don’t require ipsative (forced choice) responses
They are not based on outdated 1920 Jungian psychoanalytic theory
They tend to stand up to factor analytic validity checks
    Etc…

Interesting that there are so many who veer towards introversion. I’d always thought of MTBing as a pretty social sport.

It’s also a very lone sport compared to the likes of Football and Rugby. I just spent 6 1/2 hrs by myself on a bike on sunday….

I’m sure lots of employers think an office full of “extroverts” is ideal meaning a dynamic, vibrant place full of fresh idea’s, positive communication and Can Do attitudes

Some maybe, but isn’t that the result you risk getting if you just rely on interviews?

I expect most employers bothered enough to pay for this kind of testing are keen to avoid ending up with an office full of mouthy dickheads.

Anyway, I’ve never come across it in a recruitment situation – more in a “we might make you redundant so you better all go on a personal awareness course” kind of situatuon.

It’s obviously not at the cutting edge of psychology, but I wonder if it’s one of those things that works well in practice just not in theory?

+1 for Susan Cain’s book “Quiet” if you’re an introvert – essential reading.

I don’t doubt that you can be introverted and still enjoy social events. I like spending time with friends, but I’m not likely to be the first at a party to be dancing naked on the tables.

    ISTP – (seemingly only just):
    Introvert(44%) Sensing(1%) Thinking(38%) Perceiving(44%)

Presumably I could have easily been scored as something else, since I was only 1% “sensing”. The definition of ISTP makes them (us) sound great but I suspect they all do, which would make the whole thing bollocks and so I’m ooot !

I almost always ride on my own. I’m not anti-social, I’m just pro-solitude.

    Why?

Too much like saying “oooh, my biggest weakness is that I’m such a perfectionist”. There’s barely a negative trait at all. They should at least list potential shortcomings or negative behaviours to watch for.

I dunno, perhaps sometimes I just expect too much of others and myself

    Interviewer: “What’s your biggest weakness?”
    Interviewee: “I’m brutally honest.”
    Interviewer: “I don’t think that’s a weakness”
Interviewee: “I don’t give a shit what you think.”

I think such guides do exist.

I don’t think the idea is to try to sort or grade people – to say that one type is better than another – just to help people understand themselves.

The test was a big help for me when I was a bit lost – gave me a bit of self-knowledge, and and helped give me the confidence to make the decisions I needed to make to get my life back on track. (Along with various other things I was doing, including riding my bike (alone).)

I have had to do it a number of times in a couple of different (but related) contexts. My results have been pretty consistent, except that over time I have become less introverted (I used to be 100%), and when I had kids, I softened on the whole ‘Perceiving’ side (I think having kids means you have to be a bit more deliberate with your decisions).

People are fluid, and the MBTI accounts for that. At least according to the person that introduced me to it many years ago.

Introvert = antisocial is a common misconception. Introverts tend to not like crowds, preferring socialising with a small group over a large one, but getting to know the people they do socialise with better, on average, than the extrovert who talks briefly to lots of people.

Precisely the kind of social contact which is the norm in MTBing, in other words…

As mentioned above, “Quiet; the power of introverts in a world that can’t stop talking” is well worth reading. Particularly if you’re an extrovert, I would suggest!
