Just refurbing my old Brompton, front paint is good, rear triangle a little worse.

I’d like to go raw on the back in clearcoat powder, if it doesn’t work out I’ll go back to OEM black.

I know the factory hand picks the best examples (brazing etc) for raw so I’ll take my chance.

Main issue is I don’t want it sand/bead/glass blasted as I think that will leave the wrong finish/texture – anyone done similar or got tips please?

Last time I did similar was a DIY job on a pair of RC30 rigids on my Orange Prestige circa 1990…they looked awesome for a few weeks until the spider trails of tiny rust threads started. 😀

In short I’d like the first pic result, not the second…at least for a while.

Not done it but have you looked at Kinetics Glasgow for inspiration? They may be able to offer advice or do the job for you as they mod a lot of Bromptons.

    possibly leaves vapour blasting.

Yes vapour or soda blasting should do the trick, much less aggressive than sand/ grit etc
