or am i the only miserable old bastard?

i have a drink most weekends and more, so when nye comes, i dont feel the need to go and get shoved around the boozers i go in all year.

got a jalfrazi simmering, got some spiced rum and a macallen gold to sip on.
wife and dog are snoozing on the sofa already…….life is good. 8)

Mrs is going to work then going to pub, kids will be going to bed at 20:00 ish then I’ll be cracking out the tiny violins all by myself 🙁

Me neither Ton. I’m still full of lurgy & can’t be arsed with anything. Got lamb sandwiches & 50 Indian nibbles to get through along with loads of various booze but you know what, I’ll probably be in bed by 10. 🙄

    HNY anyway though!

Yeah, I’m ill. Hoping to be well enough for a NYD ride tomorrow.

Nah, early night for me too. I’m pretty certain I’ve got Ebola, so I’m trying to do damage limitation on my immune system.

We never make too big a thing of it but we are going to head out and have a pizza before retreating home well before midnight.

Going for a ride at 11pm. might as well start the new year doing something entertaining…

I haven’t seen the new year in for years. I figure it will still be there in the morning when I wake up, so why stay up late for it! 🙂

Not made a big deal of NYE since my son was born. Babysitters are a bit thin on the ground on December 31st. I’ll be celebrating quietly with a bottle of fizz after he’s gone to bed though, because to be blunt 2014 can **** off, I’ll be very glad to see the back of it.

My m8’s all go to caravans in Wales – I just find it too cold so stay home and watch a good film and generally mellow….

Sick and have generally been disillusioned with nye for years so I’ll be sticking in my earplugs and getting an early night.

Babysitting my nephews for the reason mintimperial mentions. I’m not that fussed about the event, and gives brother and his missus a chance to go out for once.

    Got the lurgy.
    Can’t be arsed.
NYE is just for part time drinkers.
    Its always an anticlimax.
    I’m a miserable ****.

Going to meet up with loads of people I haven’t seen for 3 years, really looking forward to it and there are cocktails…
    What’s not to like?

Just back from the pub. Some nice nosh later, pop in to see some friends then down into the village to drink and mingle before the fireworks.

Never bother tbh, not due to any miserablistness – if people want to go and do the Auld Lang Syne stuff that’s great but – nah, not for me thanks.

A few beers. Nice meal and board games with the kids and probably a whisky or two later but I’d be in bed before midnight if it weren’t for the fact that the fireworks will wake me up and then I’ll struggle to get back to sleep.

On a slightly/not at all related note, does anyone else have a “thing” about Christmas decorations in January. I have to rid the house of everything xmassy on 1st January no matter what. Thankfully the wife agrees. The kids don’t though…

I’ll be heading out at about 7pm and can guarantee I won’t be home before daylight.

    Unfortunately it’s called nightshift 😥

Bed at 9pm, probably asleep by 10, yes, it’s the biggest load of pointless garbage since Christmas, happy f***** new year, my ar**.

I will be even angrier when i walk down our local high street tomoz and see all the shop fronts and bus stops smashed.

I’m with my family to village hall with 13 other families of primary school aged kids. I’ll be off at 9pm as have a 6am start tomorrow morning, not decided if I’ll have a pint or two, and not too fussed if I don’t.

Not for me. Nice bit of trout fillet and asparagus for tea, glass of plonk in my hand. Happy days.

Quiet one for me. Out riding at afan with my boy today, missus ill on the sofa, some nice chilli and nachos later, and relaxing having a beer. Dont mind at all if I’m in bed before 12 so i can be up early for another ride tomorrow and then roast lamb dinner yippee!

NYE is just for part time drinkers.

LOL. Why do those who can’t handle their booze feel the need to drink the most?!

Always had a better time at house parties/private parties than fighting the scrum at a pub but just tend to stay in these days tbh.

We never make too big a deal of it tbh, realistically I priced both of my bands out of playing tonight too so not working it either….I’ve no great desire to have to learn a load of tunes I don’t want to play just in order to get a NYE gig so I wanted big money to do it.

So, we’re making a nice Paella, have plenty on nice wine in and will settle down after a nice meal to watching a film or carrying on watching Dexter on Netflix. We’ve got OAP’s living either side of us so there’ll be no noisy parties to worry about, we’ll probably go to bed when the worst of the fireworks are done. We’re hoping to go out for a nice walk tomorrow before doing our traditional New Years Day roast.

    Happy New Year everyone!

I’m not off out but I am cooking a (hopefully) nice meal for me and the wife, there will be a bottle of fizz and a bottle of red involved. There may even be Port later as well. I’m really rather looking forward to it.

    Amen to that.
Mrs_d has been in treatment for breast cancer since July. Last round of chemo done today. As if that’s not bad enough, her sister’s husband died of pancreatic cancer in September. and now been told my mum has a stoma in her bowel which will need surgery and chemo in the new year. Yes, 2014 has not been a good year.

Normal bedtime for me, that way I can enjoy my day off tomorrow. Just hope the world hasn’t gone mad on fireworks.

One of the best NYE i had was in Disneyland Paris
    Fancy Meal at Walts
Then walk into Main St and see the fireworks then back to hotel to drink kerr royales…

Weird feeling being absolutely smashed in disneyland….

    Also

Had a good one In New York – Meal in planet Hollywood – watching the NY celebrations around the world on the screens…

Cant be assed to fly nowadays – too much hassle.

Doing my VAT return, I rather should be doing my vat return.( for which read ‘procrastinating’)

Usually go to a friends house party, but that’s not on this year. Going to the local with a mate for a few beers in a minute, but won’t be late back.

Mrs is ill on the sofa, we might see the new year in with a bottle of fizz. I have the means to chuck an all nighter, but not planning on doing.

Couple of good venues in town and a mate is doing a DJ set, but just can’t be arsed

I’m not going out, getting loads of stick off my friends for my decision too. I see no need to go out and have to fight to get to the bar at my local pub. Especially when I can happily walk in most other nights of the year and get a pint straight away while not been surrounded by folk who never go in there any other night of the year either.

I will mostly be cooking myself a nice meal, great bottle of red wine and watch a few movies while the log burner is roaring.

Meeting friends from NZ who are visiting and staying with us for a beer and then a curry. Will head home and see in the new year with wife and daughter hopefully asleep upstairs. Not fussed really but it’s a nice buzz in Edinburgh.
