    Hi All

Does anyone know what the hub is on a Merlin RDA-2 Disc hub  ?

Just bought this wheelset as cheap winter wheels

    https://www.merlincycles.com/merlin-rda-2-disc-clincher-road-wheelset-700c-245873.html

But 10 miles into first ride the freehub started sticking intermittently when ever i stopped pedalling

Anyone else using these wheels ?

Merlin couldn’t tell me what brand the hub is and don’t sell the freehub as a consumable part…

I have sent them an email re issue, even if they do fix it i’d stlll like to know what it is so i can get spare freehub

    Cheers…

The answer to this is often novatec or bitex. You just need to find the model. If you can’t see it on the hub sometimes there is a code on the freehub itself.

If it is sticking it might just be overloaded with grease? A service of the pawls might solve it?

    Hi

Thanks jonba i think its the bitex – as they are centerlock

    https://bitexhubs.co.uk/product/bx822-centerlock-economy-hubset/

just seem the cost of replacement freehubs i wont be going down that route as i only paid £99 for the 2 wheels..

    found this video on service

on other threads i see people talking about using synthetic 0w-20 oil instead of grease as it dose not get sticky

    Hi

    Just thought i’d update

Merlin arranged for a free pickup for faulty wheel

And a week later they sent me a new replacment wheel – done a few rides now and issue has not reoccured

and i bought one of those really cheap prime wheelsets so dont need to worry about replacement hub now
