The ones that come on the bikes aren’t great so I want something with a bit more grip, but won’t rip their calfs apart when they make a mistake. Nothing flash, just a basic (ok, cheap).

    Thanks.

DMR v6’s are popular with kids at our club and being plastic, don’t tear legs apart. But the pair we’ve have got shot bearings already in about a year.

Edit – bushings not bearing it seems. Don’t know if these replaceable on v6s. I’ll investigate soon.

Anything with decent grip is going to cause issues with shins. What shows they wear has a big impact. Samuels school shoes are shit but his trainers are fine.

I have just bought him exotic plastic pedals though for £23

    Perfect for little sized feet.

Ive used these for the lads last couple of bikes. Studs are not sharp so don’t eat shins.

Not too pricey and seem decent quality.

Agree with sonnyjim, after much looking I settled on the KC008’s. There’s not much out there In the way of quality pedals for smaller feet. Perfect size for my 8 year old son and seem to be holding up well.

Second the superstar El Plastique. Great pedals.
Raceface Chester are excellent but a little more money.

I ran the DMR V6’s on my Santa Cruz and they were great but normal size, Jitsie do some kids specific aftermarket caged pedals http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/caged_pedals/jitsie_kids_caged_pedals/c149p13188.html

+1 for the kc008 s, light and the perfect size for kids. Grippy but not vicious pins.

Would speedway pedals work. Grip tape to stop slips but no pins to mash shins?

+1 again for the wellgo kc008’s

Really nice little pedals and not too savage pins.
