Hi I’m currently in Wales for a biking week, we’re thinking of booking for Thursday is it rideable on a 120mm 29er with stans flow rims and a normal helmet with no pads? Or will I die 🙂

I’d say Red and Blue are, certainly. You might be slower than folks with a bit more squish, but you’ll enjoy it.

Go for it. The Red and blue will be doable, its a blast. Id take some bandages though, your elbows and knees might need them!

Full face is a requirement for the black

Two mates with us , a few weeks back, rode the blue happily enough on Carrera hardtails with xc lids.
Personally, I was happier on a 26″ trail bike with pads and an f/f lid though, but I’m a wimp.
    Take tyres / tubes though.

Thanks, blue and red it is then 🙂 one of the group has full face and a cube hanz so were going mainly for him to do the black, but As long as we can ride some stuff it should be worthwhile. Incidentally that cube climbs like you would not believe for such a bike..

It’ll be fine, one of our group was on a C456 and still faster than most folks there 😉 Another feller was on a v-braked rockhopper. It is a bit harder on tyres than most riding so you might want to add a little air (assuming you’re tubeless?), depends on your setup o;course.

And yep, uplift rules require a fullface for the blacks- though you don’t find this out til you’re at the top as far as I could tell!

No problem – you’ll have a blas- we did it on hardtails on the red and blue all day and loved it.

One bit of advice though – warm up on the pump track by the entrance for 20 mins or so before you do the uplift. Getting straight out the van and hitting the rocky red or blue cold (brain as well as body) nearly did for me, cos I’m not used to doing anything technical at speed until I’ve been on the bike for a while, and the ground up there is HARD.

As everyone else has said, you’ll be fine on a 120mm full suss on the red and blue runs.

We were there on saturday for the fist time, and there were quite a few people on hardtails.

Its a great place, the red and blue are great fun, once you get to know them you can really fly down .
