Another thread about the new Pikes (29er flavour)

I know there have been several dozen of these but can’t find the info I was after.

It seems the travel in the fixed length versions can only be changed with a new air assembly. That’s not a deal-breaker for me – but can a 140mm fork be extended to 150mm by this method? Or just vice versa?

Not conclusive, appears to suggest you can alter travel with bottomless tokens, but maybe only shortening it.

You can shorten or extend travel by changing the air spring. 29ers can go from 120mm-160mm.

Air spring costs about £35 and looks like this:

Bottomless tokens change the spring rate from linear to more progressive, but not amount of travel.

150’s can got to 140 or 160 but 140’s can’t go to 150.

Don’t believe that’s right. There are different CSUs for different axles offsets and for solo air/dual position air, but not for different travel.

The 140 CSU comes with no markings on and the 150/160 CSU comes with markings for 150 and 160.
It also has a different part number.

I only know this as I wanted a 160 with 51 offset.
Fishers decided that no one would want this so didn’t import it.
They did tell me that the only way i could get one in the UK was to buy a 150/51 and fit the 160 air spring.
Which is what i did.

The 140 29er CSU has no markings here.

Bugger can’t get the link to work.
It would be interesting to see if the two CSU’s were the same length when measured and the different part number just signifies marked or unmarked though.

Just go for a 150 to be safe. Oh and the 51 offset will feel better.

Yeah I ordered a 150mm with 51mm offset a while ago, should be in LBS this week but I was having a last-minute flap and considering going 140mm instead.

Easy enough to change the air spring if you want 140. 🙂

Three easy steps to a 160 conversion.

1. Buy a 160 air spring from your LBS/Loco/TF Tuned.

2. Remove the 150 air spring from your fork.

3. Fit the 160 air spring.
