if you're on this forum, then you probably check the ad's aswell
and sometimes you might buy something
and sometimes you might sell something
and you probably do the same on the bay, bike radar, etc.
you wouldn't want to get ripped-off
and, I'm hoping, you wouldn't want to rip anyone off
good karma, and all that...
anyways;
I paypal-ed Adam Nolan £310
in return I got a set of Rev's "in excellent condition, a few scratches to paint from being in transit"
however, in reality I got very scratched paint, rebound that doesn't work properly, 1 marked and worn stanchion, and bushings with that much play I'd be surprised if there were actually any there
they blatantly need a full service, £110-ish
Adam Nolan must have known this
Adam Nolan is not responding to emails
if you know Adam Nolan, Cumbria, can you mention this to him please
thankyou

Rather than get another forum member to mention it to him, why not do it yourself?

£300? Gotta be worth a bus ride to the Lakes. Does 'Own him with Revs' have the same cachet as Bombers?

Any progress?

I've had three packets of chocolate Hob Nobs, seven packs of Garibaldis and twelve Tunnock's wafers in anticipation.

nice to know, as they charge so much, Paypal have a resolution centre. maybe it works.
it's now with them as a claim
Adam chose not to ring back, nor answer his phone to several callers last night
of course, there could be a good reason

£310 as a gift on paypal to someone tha doesn't know is akin to giving a stanger in the street cash for something they say they'll return with in 30mins 🙄
For that sum of money surely it's better to pay the extra in fees & if the seller doesn't likie it that way, then just walk away.
I know it doesn't help in this situation but if it stops one more person being taken for a ride it's worth saying.

Maybe he'd eaten so many biscuits while reading this thread that he spent the night on the toilet, unable to get to his phone...

sending a stranger £310 is a dodgy game, yes, but as he did use this forum quite a bit, and was mentioned as someone who was kinda known on the local events scene, it seemed a fair punt that he was a genuinely honest guy with a fairly described item to sell
i should be out riding now...
i've got 2 weeks off and no bike

Have contacted them, and the guy I spoke to knew Adam Nolan, but not that well. He said that Adam didn't seem like the kind of guy to rip someone off.
a worn stanchion means shafted forks though in my book

Ok guys, can I bring this thread back on topic please. I too have had dealings with him. I brought an XT front mech off of Adam Nolan (mountain rider) back in January. It was described as nearly new and only been riden a few times! What i got was a XT front mech with a rusty cage and totally mangled adjustment screws. It was impossible to adjust the limit screws as you couldnt get a screw driver to sit in the slot. I emailed Adam and waited a week. Nothing. I contacted him again twice over the next week but still nothing. I noticed that he hadn't been on STW for a while so thought he may be on holiday. Then I saw he had put a reply on STW to a topic seconds before. So I added a coment after his asking for him to please make contact, but you guessed it, no reply? As the mech was only £20 posted I accepted the loss and got another. If you do manage to catch up with him please mention my front mech and if he shows no remorse then you have my full permission to give him a good kicking for me. Better still get me his phone number and I will make contact and make his life a little more eventfull than it usually is! I quite fancy a visit to the lakes.

I think the mods should seriously look at banning this guy as we dont need his kind on here.

Matt

i once sold a set of straitline pedals on here. they were a bit scuffed but ran fine. asked a fair price and got it. the guy got back to me and sed he had stripped them down and the bushings were screwed so i ordered him a bushing kit rather than having him feel ripped off.

my point being its easy in certain circumstances to miss something being wrong with what you sell, just sort it out and chalk it up to experience. its completely out of order to sell someone turd and tell them its chocolate though. if this guy works in a bike shop then you would hope he knew his way round a bike. if he is deliberately selling his knackered stuff as 'good nick' then he needs a talking to.

His phone number is a Whitehaven area code and there just happens to be an Adam Nolan listed on the 2009-2011 electoral roll in that area. If you get a www.192.com credit you'll have his address to send a smalls claims summons to if he continues to be evasive.

If all else fails you'll find him at at Innerleithen on 15-Jul-2011 for the Gravity Enduro and Tour de Ben Nevis on September 24 2011. You could re-introduce him to his fork.
