What maximum width do you reckon you could run comfortably on a 700 c rim ?

I’ve had 34mm tires comfortably on 700c rims.

Running 50mm Big Apples on mine but there’s 700c rims and there’s 700c rims.

    What width are yours?

Depends on the internal width of the rim and the depth of the bead socket, you get skinny 700c rims suitable for 18mm tyres and you get fat 700c rims for 55mm+ tyres – without knowing your rim there’s no way to tell.

Depends entirely on the width of the rims.

OP. am I right in thinking that you mean “road” 700c rather than what is known as a 29er rim.
Same thing but the latter maybe wider. there the maximum will be the biggest 29er tyre out the. got to be 2.5″+
On more road based rims I run 38mm knobblies and road tyres no fuss
