Having a lot of free time at the moment due to the crap weather so I’ve borrowed the missus book.

I’ve persevered as far as chaper 6.

Does it get any better? Becasue so far it’s so badly written it’s barely worth turning the pages on a kindle!

Craracters – have no character and what little there is is implausible at best
Locations – there might be some, but the main character narates the story and keeps sataring at her hands so we don’t get to see any.

Basicaly it’s written from the point of view of a shy virgin who does a lot of navel gazeing who meets the socialy retarded Mr Grey who for no reason we’re aware of (other than going to the gym and lots of money) is attractive to women (maybe women are that shallow?). Basicly it’s been 6 chapters of her own internal monologue, and she’s not an interesting person!

It’s for women innit, no point trying to understand it/them

I’m guessing that you’ve already masturbated so hard that your little man has fallen off?

If my wife ever bought it I would give it the once over but I doubt I could read the whole thing.

Someone posted a link on here to a very funny blog ’50 things I hate’ but I can’t find it right now.

Read it? Good God, No! If I want to read erotica, I’ll read Aniis Nin.

If anyone is seriously considering reading it, this should put you off

That italic eyeball blog it pretty close to how it actually reads!

TSY, pretty much, for a variety of reasons I’ve not had actual sex with another human being in almost a month!

No, but my wife has. In fact, when i got home last night she met me at the door in her underwear, with two silk scarves in her hands. ‘Tie me up’ she said breathlessly ‘and then do what you want’

So i tied her up and went for a bike ride.

theotherjonv – and I suppose when you got home last night that too was from a bike ride? 😆

    2 facts I found out today;

    1) it’s the fastest selling adult book of all time.

    2) last week it sold more copies than the next 1000 paperbacks on the list combined.

Not read it, but I’m enjoying other people’s experience of it….

If you’ve got that far and you don’t like it then don’t persevere. I’ve read it and it doesn’t get any better, and the sex scenes become repetitive. It also then ends on a boring and predictable attempt at a cliffhanger because it’s a trilogy.

I can only assume that all the people who have bought it don’t have an internet connection.

WHy oh why I am soooo disappointed in women! it’s utter drivel, I read one paragraph there is nothing too it, written by a small child, the one sex scene I read was as if your Grandmother was telling you about sex and it is just utter drivel.

Do not waste your time and tell you wives/girlfriends to get a grip!!

To answer the OP, MrsMCTD told me she was advised that it gets “good” in Chapter 8.

If she wants to feel dominated and helpless after reading the book, I’ll tie her to the bedpost, get out the laptop and she can watch me order a new bike on her credit card 😈

Insatiable, by Julie O’Neill, is a lot more fun… 😯

Having seen a photograph of the author I really don’t want to know what’s going on in her head.

i really dont get it, a few women i know have said its a load of bollox and cant see what the fuss is about, from what they said it seems to be an internet phenomenon and its gone ‘viral’ (as they say these days)… and judging by the illiterate posts on their facebook pages 90% of the woman who bought it cant even read anyway and skipped to the ‘best bits’ whatever they are.

i told them all if they want porn i can give them a few URL’s that will boggle their minds 😉

If it gets them ‘in the mood’ then I’m all for it. Didn’t the Black Swan film a couple of years ago have the same effect on women?

Frankly, that’s just stupid. If it was me, I’d feel like I’d won the sex lottery…

Jenny Diski, by the way. 😉

I’ve not noticed an increase in the amount of sex I’m getting because if this book… maybe she’s just sorting herself out…? 😉 or maybe 🙁

A girl at work is making a killing with this trilogy.

Buys it on Amazon and flogs it on e-bay making £10 profit everytime!!

I read the first couple of chapters the other day, and it is pretty much what you’d expect from fanfiction.

Read the 3 books – does improve slightly after book 1 but it’s no literary work of art. And I don’t think I’ve ever read so much sex and not had a boner… Take away all the S&M stuff though and there’s no real substance to it. Virgin plus screwed up uber-rich fall in love. He shows her a lifestyle of luxury, she shows him how to trust people. Sure there are much better written versions of similar out there. I just found all the bangin’ totally unnecessary – never thought I’d find myself saying that!!!

So who’s going to be be case in the two lead roles in the inevitable movie version??
