29er TYRE recos

I know it’s down to preference but a few suggestions would be appreciated as what I used when 26″ aren’t available.

So a summer tyre, to run tubeless on a light Singular 29er rigid, Kentish singletrack, XC, fast rolling, no jumpy stuff. Like MudX for winter.

Same but less draggy for summer pls!

2.4 Racing Ralph or 2.4 Ardent or crossmark

Thats whats on my rigid swift

I like Specialized 2.2 Purgatory’s, ran them in the winter and they coped fine with the slop and quick enough in the dry with enough volume to cussion the worst of the trail. Might Swap them for something faster when the weather warms up properly, but as a tubeless tyre the purgatorys work really well as they work in everything so don’t need changeing.

Just asking, like… I’m in West Kent and looking to possibly start getting out a little more in the near future.

Also looking at a rigid Swift as the next purchase.

I’d go for Aspen on the back, RR on the front

Not really in the spirit of STW and I’m probably going to get flamed something rotten but but what about keeping the Mud X on?

With a bit more pressure they’re not that draggy and they’re reasonably light in the tubeless variety.

I ran the TLS version pretty much all year round on my 26″ 1×1 when I lived in Kent and have now got the 29″ Team version on my Karate Monkey.

I had Bonty 29-3s on there before that. Also good tyres, especially for a rigid build, but the rear tyre was rubbish in the wet and and can honestly say that switching to the Mud Xs has not led to any drop off in performance.

I have friends who happily run Mud X year round on 26″, tho I switched mine for Rocket Rons and notice a big difference.

or stans crow and raven combo on tubeless rims for the ultimate zing

+1 Well, on the front anyway. I’ve not tried them on the back but I would imagine they’d drag a little. Just put a Crossmark on the back and I love it.
