Love my fox defend ones .

I’ve got TLDs version, they’re great surprisingly being designed where it doesn’t rain ! Madison DTE are worth looking at as well .

Just ordered two more pairs of Altura over shorts at half price.

The original pair are pretty good. Probably not as good as the Fox shorts I have,  but pretty good

I’m still happy with my TLD resists’s. Just took em out last weekend. Definitely at the “rubbery” end of the spectrum, particular last weekend which wasn’t particularly cold so rubber vs bare skin, but was tolerable. Once winter sets in, it’s tights underneath at which point the trousers are excellent as a fully fully waterproof, well shaped outer layer.

Room for kneepads and they do a long length so they don’t ride up at the ankle as you pedal.

Waterproof in all but biblical rain.

All good dude. I never feel waterproofs are breathable ?

I’ve got some Fox and some Endura.

The Fox seems warmer, especially when wet

However, the Endura has a much better closer, the Fox one is a nightmare to open with gloves/frozen hands/if it gets a lot of mud in it, and the Endura has better leg length.

Overall I prefer the Endura, the extra warmth of the Fox is outweighed by it letting more water into my boots. Although I’ve just bought some calf length 45Nrth boots which might solve this.

I think I looked into them last year and got the impression they are built for slightly portlier riders

They claim a 20/40k waterproof/breathability rating.

I’ve got an MT500 jacket that claims the same and it is definitely cooler than a 20/20k eVent jacket that I was using prior.

Both jackets are the same size and a similar fit. The Endura is the same size when packed so the amount of material is basically the same. It’s definitely cooler riding in it than the eVent which makes me think that the 40k breathability thing actually works. If the Madisons are a similar material, they may well run cooler than expected.

I mean, they’ll still be sweaty but hopefully less sweaty than everything else.

Have they got any vents on them? Or mesh lined pockets that you can use as vents? Piccies on Freewheel would suggest not.

Not vents as such, but there’s a big zip down one side to presumably make them easier to get on, but will double up as a vent, as there is a popper at the top to stop flappage. Would be better if they put one both sides as on the opposite side is a very weird, almost useless pocket instead

Sport Pursuit have Alpinestars Tahoe waterproof strides for £29 at the moment. They’re only 8k waterproof and 3k breathable but fine if you’re on an EBike and not getting all heated up.

Endura Spray are great, comfy, not rustly and long enough for my 6.2 legs –  if it’s not currently training and you avoid puddles / wet foliage.

A nice fit on my 36″ inside leg, not too hot, keep me fairly dry and they breath relatively well

Would like to find some cycling specific long legged trouser but yet to find anything – so if someone can point me in the right direction – please do!

Just ordered some TLD resist for €65 delivered (I’m in Austria). They only had 30” waist but worth a punt at that price.

I’ve got some in that size. I’m normally a 30 with a 30″ inseam. They fit me really well. Perhaps a little loose at the waist. They’re quite a slim fit overall but there’s still room for pads. The ankles taper down and there isn’t really much (any) stretch in the material. They fit over the tops of my Lake boots fine but wouldn’t go over my Mavic Xa Pro (like a hiking boot). The chainring side ankle is reinforced as are the inner things and seat.

They felt horrible when I took them out of the bag. Kind of rubbery and like they’d be a sweat fest. They’re not actually too bad when you’re wearing them though. I bought some cheap cycle tights to wear underneath them but haven’t actually felt the need yet. Maybe it it was properly cold but so far, they’re been good.

They did start letting water in the last time I wore them (last year) but that was towards the end of a 40 mile ride in the Peak with constant rain for 7 hours. It was enough to notice it collecting in my boots but I was still warm so didn’t care.

How so? their size chart says long is 33″ (and extra long 35″, but dont seem to have that trouser in x-long).

Ive got ex-airforce over trousers picked up on  a recommendation from here and their proper 36 leg. not a riding cut though=too baggy  in the lower leg.  good for walking

(I have quite a lot of surplus clothing as I’m like the High Street the military recognise that clothes actually have to fit all people and that we exist  so you can find stuff with proper long legs and also long bodies and jackets and shirts.  A NATO sizing his real dimensions of proper waist hip and leg in metric, not imperial.). Not much of it, blue air force stuff around anymore though I think it was sold.
