Safety – you look at the actual bike and it’s got some proper steel guards so if the rider behind actually bumps their front tyre into the derny it just bounces harmlessly off the guard.

The dernys at Manchester all have scuff marks up the back of their guards. 🙂

The poor Italians, that one just fell to pieces. It’s heartbreaking to see 2 teammates disappearing up the track and you can’t do a thing about it.
