Was told about this today, seems a lot for a 10year old malt.

    Anyone tried it? Any good.

Worth every penny if it’ll go up in value.

Tried a lot, limited unique and collectables.

Age is only one factor, the others are very delectable, it’s also quite cheap compared to a lot out there. The dark arts are worth a look too.

    Green ants? Tasty.

Also I think I paid 140 for one of the octomore 8s. A sipper and will last a while

It’s all marketing spin.  It’s probably a batch of something else with a production error that rather than trash gets rebranded and “special edition” bottles.

Absolutely poly, best turn it down if your ever offered a glass , looking back I’ve had the 10 before and it’s quite good. Stands up well to others at a similar price.

Must not do a series either… very nice drop from some virgin oak

Palmers of Bridport are currently doing a 1955 port for £280.

Apparently it’s lush, and a vintage year that is totally ripe for sipping.

ugliest bottle I’ve ever seen, I’d refuse it on that point alone! muck! 😀

@ bodgy -£280 per bottle – in lisbon several shops selling old port. Think the most expensive i saw was 1900 euros for something from the 1920s

There’s a bottle of Ardbeg 1965 40 yr old on Amazon for 5p short of £19000. Just in case you thought that was a lot of money, there’s a free miniature and a pair of gloves to go with it.

Or spend another £190000 or so and you can have a nice 35 yr old Yamazaki single malt. ….

will someone pay 160quid and is it nicer than a (purely example) Ardbeg 10 are not causal statements 🙂

on the face of it I think I’d probably like it (peaty, some wine cask finish) but I don’t pay that much for whisky – but this is just me, if you want to and have the cash then crack on. There’s another in the range at £110 which sounds better vfm if you are looking

Best way is to find 9 friends and pay £15 quid for 2 glasses/70ml, that was how our tasting afternoons went (helped by several industry types getting us nice discounts)

Be aware that the second number means a lot too as it’s the style of the finish, if you want to wind it back try the Port Charlotte for just Heavily Peated not super peated.

The Port Charlotte Scottish Barley is a great shout. The Islay Barley version didn’t quite do it for me, but the former has joined my list of favourite fifty quid malts. Booths had an Octomore on offer at just over a ton just before Chrimbo -might have to nip back in to see what they’ve got in at the moment.

None in the Media City one but it’s where I saw PC for £50

This was the selection we tasted last time – the Black Arts are not available retail any more and one other was gone, think that might have been the last 10 from that release too
