    I have a dilemna. I got a wheel built at a local trusted wheel builder to be shipped out to a pal who is currently in Africa. Bike is a specialized tri-cross (aluminium). My mate is a big guy, 6’4", and about 16/17 st. Wheel needed to be tough enough for loaded touring on dirt roads.

    I specced the rear hub size as 135mm, but it turns out the frame is a 130 spacing.

    Dilemna is whether to go with this size. Will forcing the [aluminium] frame to accomodate the 135mm hub weaken the frame, especially considering the size of the rider and current riding environment?

    The 135mm hub means the wheel will be stronger than 130mm, but will this be offset by potentially weakening the frame.

    Should I just get the wheel rebuilt with the correct hub?

    I know there is no definitive answer to this, but just wanted to hear thoughts.
