We certtainly have double standards dealing with this sort of thing but usually would be siding with the coup

You mean we'd have planned and funded the coup. Authoritarian ruler of an oil producing country who's not keen on the rule of law or any kind of regulation? Sounds right up our street.

Isn’t the right to bear arms amendment somewhat so that the population cannot easily be controlled by a malignant state?

Yeaahhhh sort of. But it was passed in 1789, when having a standing army was still controversial in the US and so they were envisioning essentially militia vs militia, armed and equipped and trained much the same. An idea that pretty much died in 1812. People make comments about drone strikes and gunships and seal teams but the reality is it's no dafter to think you can stand as a militia against the state now, than it was 200 years ago.

Some of the comments on voight's tweet - Jesus, they are a bunch of religious nuts aren't they!

My dad was offered a job in Chicago in the 80's and lived there for a month to see if he liked it. He got taken to one side by his potential boss one day and asked why he didn't go to church on Sundays. My dad told him that he wasn't religious and then got a dressing down, the bloke told him that first he serves his god, then his country and then his family.

My dad walked out and told him he had his priorities wrong and returned home after 4 weeks never to go back!

Imagine if this remarkably well organised, systematic and widespread fraud turns out to be true?

What a feat to have achieved. The planning and execution involved would be beyond anything we've seen before surely?

"Faking the moon landings" is one thing, something like this, involving so many more people, would be historic surely?

Scott Adams was on the radar long ago. This is what happens when politics becomes ultra partisan and children aren't taught about critical thinking. As someone else said, where America leads we follow...

There is a good argument to be made that if the Democrats are so incredibly well-organised and efficient then they should definitely be in charge of the country, especially during a pandemic. 😉

Adams is such a **** but just think about that sentence...

"Ever wonder how Trump allegedly lost support with while male voters while gaining support among minorities? Doesn’t seem possible, does it"

When your casual racism overrides every other thought in your brain...

He does do good cartoons though.

I’d also really like to know what’s distracting him just out of frame to the top right and why the middle pointy man has different coloured hands to his face? The more I look the more questions I have. A great metaphor for this entire shit show

What happened to Tucker Carlson's dossier of dirt on the Bidens, it suspiciously went missing in the post but an investigation found it. So what's the scoop then Tucker, or was it all just fantasy from the squeaky voiced muppet.
Speaking of fantasy, Giulianis press conference at four seasons landscaping gets even worse, turns out one of the guys speaking was a convicted sex offender.

For trump there are 6 stages of grief, not 5; yes denial, anger, bargaining, depression and then acceptance. But with the president the first stage is litigation.

Trump Jr. called for total war after it became clear that his father is losing the election. It’s a Nazi dog whistle. “Do you want total war?” is one of the most iconic sentences of the Nazi era. Every German knows that sentence. It’s as famous as “Sieg heil.”

@spekkie how many people would need to be involved in this? Apparently around 400,000 people were involved in the missions to put man on the moon.

Also, this is definitely not meant as a dig, or similar. Genuinely curious as to whether it's people in tbe Democratic party, or actual voters that would need to be in on it.

It would need a bunch of Republicans to be in on it as well. Several of those states where he lost the officials in charge of the elections were Republican (not just Republican in their private life but in some states elected as Republican officials).

Although I would disagree with it being a display of competence. If I was going to go to all the effort of rigging the election I would have made sure I had a majority in the Senate as well. Otherwise the Republicans can do what they did for most of Obama's presidency and just obstruct everything.

Well one way to rig an election for the democrats is to have a large number of people in on the conspiracy so that you don't cause suspicion by having lots of dodgy ballots turn up in one place. About 77 million co-conspritors should do it 🙂

Reported earlier today in the US...

Biden’s lead in Pennsylvania has just moved outside the margins of error. Any recount in PA will have to be paid by the Trump campaign. Per Republican Al Schmidt, the Philadelphia city commissioner

Time for donny to send out more of this begging emails.
Other than trump attempting to move the US towards authoritarianism it's been a political good news day in both UK & US.

I think if you research the appropriate corners of the internet, you'll find that the Democratic Party is actually under the control of a coven of witches who exert mind control over atheists, so their followers don't actually realize they are under the control of satanic forces. Those who have faith are protected and only they can see the truth. Or something like that, the wingnuts are much better at writing that garbage than I am.

Didn't Trump at one point tell his supporters to try and vote by mail and in person, basically commit voter fraud which is a felony.
If the recount exposes illegal votes I'll put money on them being mostly republican votes, thus making the GOP an even bigger laughing stock, has the big orange baby not even considered that outcome or is he convinced the retards whooping at everything he says at his rallies are a true reflection of the rest of America.

From Reuters. Makes sense when these dropboxes are locked at 8pm election day you won't get round them all to pick them up that night.

FACT CHECK

The drop box was LOCKED at 8pm on Election Day.

“L.A. County officials told Reuters that these ballots were collected on Nov. 4 but were deposited by voters on or before Nov. 3. They are therefore valid and will be processed and counted.”

At this point he should concede, BUT I also think there should be a large scale investigation/audit into this election, addressing possible voter fraud and also how the counting could have been streamlined so the results in election day don't look so wonky. The number of mail-in ballots used in this election has been to my knowledge unprecedented in the US, and dare I say in any other civilised country?

For Example, Michingan sending ballots to everyone that they had in their system(instead of requiring absentee requests) resulted in great election participation, on the other hand it doesn't look great that their databases are several years(if not a decade?) out of date.

Pretty confident they review how an election has gone every time. I think it was Republican lawmakers who prevented pre-canvassing of mail-in ballots, which resulted in the 'wonky' results.

Been there done that when he whinged last time round when he lost the popular vote. Unsurprisingly there wasnt any evidence of widespread fraud. Whilst some fraud is guaranteed to have occurred (people deciding to vote for a recently dead relative and so on)
For streamlining of counting. The issue there is each state has its own rules. Hence why some were fast and efficient and others not. Several were slow since counting postal ballots in advance wasnt allowed.

Every election is monitored for voter fraud. That's standard procedure. Over the last few decades, the rate of deliberate fraud has been utterly insignificant. Not non-existent, but exceedingly rare and not limited to one party or the other.

The Republican Party deliberately handicapped vote counting in some states, Pennsylvania for example, to cause this exact sort of thing. Those early ballots could have been processed before E-Day, which is what happened in other states. No investigation is needed to understand what happened - the Republican Party wanted this to happen and deliberately set out to cause it.

So I assume the only thing stopping the US putting him in a straight jacket and giving him a dose of summit to calm him down and dragging him out the oval office is the amount of deluded gun nuts (that have heads full of conspiracy theories as it is). Obviously better if he goes of his own will but could the straight jacket be an option ?

The problem is that the core of the Republican Party voters support him and his crazy stuff - he doesn't really make this stuff up himself, he just repeats crazy stuff that's floating around and sticks with the stuff that gets traction. Even though those voters are a minority of the overall electorate, they are a majority of the Republican Party, so anybody who crosses Trump will face a primary challenge before their next election. Most of the Republican politicians know this stuff is batshit crazy, but if they say so, their careers are over. It's alienating moderate voters, hence Biden's huge popular vote margin, but politicians are elected by local vote counts, not national votes, so everyone is incentivized to pander to the crazies.

Biden will be sworn in in January and Trump will leave the White House, I have no doubt about that. This charade is all about him being able to rile up his fans with claims of voter fraud, etc. Trump knows they are baseless, he just doesn't care.

True, and bad data is the source of all those "I got mail-in ballot for my dead aunty/mother/cat" issues that are being publicly shouted about.

What isn't shouted about is that:

1) some of that bad data is the fault of households not filling in electoral registration correctly

2) having a ballot form for someone who is dead or a cat is not fraud. Having multiple ballot forms for the same person is not fraud. Having a mail-in form when you vote in person is not fraud. USING those forms is fraud.

Most of the Republican politicians know this stuff is batshit crazy, but if they say so, their careers are over.

I don't think that's what's stopping them speaking out. The Republican party thinks politics is a fight to gain power, rather than a system for governing a country. So whatever works is good. And this works.

Trump knows they are baseless, he just doesn’t care.

I'm really not sure - his personality type means he despises "losers". So there is a good chance he simply cannot admit to himself that he lost fairly. It had to have been rigged.

Trump made these statements at his rallies, how can he admit to himself that he lost fairly after making them:

“Running against him, it puts such pressure because I’m running against the worst in the history of presidential — and now if I lose, can you imagine? ... If I lose, I will have lost to the worst candidate, the worst candidate in the history of presidential politics. If I lose, what do I do? I’d rather run against somebody who’s extraordinarily talented, at least, this way I can go and lead my life.”

“Could you imagine if I lose? My whole life, what am I going to do? ... I’m going to say I lost to the worst candidate in the history of politics. I’m not going to feel so good. Maybe I’ll have to leave the country. I don’t know.”

BUT I also think there should be a large scale investigation/audit into this election, addressing possible voter fraud and also how the counting could have been streamlined so the results in election day don’t look so wonky.

That's a great example of how the narrative has been skewed. *Every* election is audited and checked for fraud. The processes, checks and balances are in place and used. What's new is the throwing of doubt on that.

Likewise the 'wonky' results aren't wonky at all, but the order of counting and delay of counting of mail-in and early votes was intentionally delayed by the Republicans in order to make it look like it was wonky. If they hadn't put their oar in and made it difficult the results would have been a lot quicker and more streamlined under the pre-existing processes.

The number of mail-in ballots used in this election has been to my knowledge unprecedented in the US, and dare I say in any other civilised country?

Yes it was, and the reason for that doesn't need investigating, it's because of the pandemic.
But a larger number of one type of ballot doesn't make the counting of them any more suspicious or in need of investigation if the processes and checks and balances are already in place.

Saying, "ah, but it's unprecedented therefore we should audit it" is missing the point that it is already audited and checked as part of normal process, both during and after.

He was at Arlington National Cemetery yesterday. Didn't speak AFAIK.

I see Trump retweeted that crazy Jon Voight video 😲

Is he actively trying to provoke civil unrest/war?

Scorched earth/ doesn't give a crap. One thing this guy definitely doesnt give a sh*t about is his country so I don't think he'd mind in the slightest if things really got bad a long as it doesn't effect him personally.

Ironic really, his base think he loves his country. There is only one entity in the universe he loves and we all know what that is.

So there is a good chance he simply cannot admit to himself that he lost fairly.

Yes - "I'm so awesome it's not possible that I could lose fair and square, someone's cheated because that's what people do".

No, Don, that's what YOU do, not everyone does it.
