Cougar, your quote cuts short. Have a look at this:

https://mobile.twitter.com/kadhim/status/1324485343274557443

The Trump campaign lawyer began arguing about the # of feet away from the counting tables that their observers had a right to be. Diamond interrupted:

"You don't have the right to be within 100 feet. You have the right maybe to be treated equally as recognised by a state court"

The whole legal challenge is that while observers are allowed in the building they are kept over 100’ away from the count so can’t actually observe anything.

As this is a cycling website, this is like the last part of the TdF time trial – Joe Pogacar is knocking time out of the lead with every pedal revolution while Donald Roglic has his hat on the back of his head and is wobbling along in a way that makes you watch through your fingers.

Negative splits FTW.

That's brilliant, a great analogy!

Let's hope that once biden has won the media will now go all out to destroy trump and his company. They must have stuff that they haven't used yet

I've wondered that. Wonder if Putin has any documents - or videos - that could be hacked/leaked 🤔

so, if by some miracle, Trump's team did manage to get all "illegal" votes thrown out, presume that would be all the votes on each ballot card...so senate, house of reps, best cat etc etc. I wonder if they've done the "math" to check that they wouldn't be shooting themselves in the foot by losing the senate? (and, possibly, best cat)

Where does it say that?

Regardless I'm sure the last thing ballot workers want is shouty lewandowsky standing next to them as they tray & do their jobs

Trump & his cronies just look desperate

Watching the GOP & RW press abandon him is hilarious

No, they've published everything they can prove, which is quite damning and would have sunk any other politician. Once Biden takes over, the Trump team will have much less leeway to keep stuff hidden, so a lot of stuff that we are fairly sure is right will probably be shown to be proven. Problem is, Trump's supporters will refuse to believe any of it.

I haven't found a full video of Trump's speech, just ones that go up to where all the networks cut it off, but that's more than enough to leave me completely and utterly speechless. Jaw has hit the floor.

Surely he must be breaking some law about bringing the Office into disrepute!

Where does it say that?

Half way down.

Rudy outlines the case here:

You can say pretty much what you want to the press, the actual legal challenge happens in court.

What happens if Trumps wins? The media are cutting him off mid-speech and his Tweets get warning messages. Four years of the medai censoring Trump would make a laughing stock of America. Down to 665 votes diference in Georgia with no idea of how many are left or what they are - local postal votes (Biden), expats (Biden) or overseas military (Trump).

What is truly gobsmacking is that three of the mainstream broadcasters had to cut short the US President’s speech to pint out hd was making false allegations. (See Frankconway post above)

I'm guessing they must all have agreed together in advance to do that and do it at the same time, otherwise everyone would just have switched over to the network still covering it. No-one is putting up with this shit any more

Sure.

This is the view of Judge Diamond:

“You don’t have the right to be within 100 feet. You have the right maybe to be treated equally as recognised by a state court”

The meaning of 'observe' is what they're arguing about. The supreme court will have to decide.

I have no idea what happens to all the votes if the supreme court deemed they were not observed.

100 feet is a common state rule for electioneering outside.

The one challenge I heard about was at Pennsylvania Convention Center. The Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court overturned a 15 feet rule (although the layout of the room and barriers means some counting stations are further away).

Prob a valid issue, PCC stopped, reconfigured the room, and started counting again. Doesn't mean you chuck hundreds of thousands of ballets in the bin like Rudi and co. are saying.

I'm half expecting, when being pressed on his evidence, for tinkerbell to blurt out "We know they are cheating because we are cheating!"

Looks like lots of senior republicans have seen last night as a step too far and are quietly distancing themselves from the looney on the bus, now that he looks like he's served his purpose and a Biden win looks more or less in the bag

Trumps lead down to 463 in GA

I do wonder how much difference late oversees ballots will bring in for Trump, you'd think the military ones at least might skew his way

Just hope it gets sorted before he incites violence

And the world can finally press mute on his poisonous rants

Would it be out of the realms of possibility for this clown show to end up in the supreme court and a total recount ordered?
This farce has already made the country look like a second-rate tv show acted out by a bunch of village idiots with the combined IQ of a tea pot, so why not for the next episode.

Sickening to see the array of toady Tories desperate not to criticise the Donald's pathetic lies and cheating.

He sounded a broken man in that last press conference.

I would imagine that the ruling would be to recount with closer observation. But I can't really see a court supporting the Trump case

The meaning of ‘observe’ is what they’re arguing about.

Then let's see a transcript of the questioning in court. Rudy doing a speech to the press will just be garbage, in legal terms... he has form for this. I'll fully admit to not even pressing play...

Ah, sorry, you have to expand the thread. I think this link should put it at the bottom:

Failing that search for in google and it's the first link:

You don't have the right to be within 100 feet. You have the right maybe to be treated equally as recognised by a state court

EDIT: oh... some magic happened.

I was watching CNN's livestream and they stayed with it (then roasted Trump afterwards, including the Republican commentator). They got a lot of heat on Twitter for not cutting away? Perhaps the US cable version was different.

Did you see the Nevada election official was asked about the old lady paraded by Team Trump as having her ballot stolen (somebody else had voted in her name?) He said he'd personally spoken to her, they'd found the ballot with her authorised signature and the lady then backed down and declined taking it further. She tried to vote twice they think.

The best bit of that exchange was where the trump lawyer admitted there was a 'non-zero' amount of Trump observers in the room, and the judge asked him what the problem was then.

Each state makes its own rules about the election, so there won't be a nationwide recount. In Wisconsin, the Trump campaign is legally allowed to request a recount if the result is close, the same will hold for other states. That's all proper.

A lot of the rest will come down to challenging ballots. That will have to go through local courts first before it can be referred to the Supreme Court. The SC is quite likely to refuse to hear cases, even if local courts do.

Cheers.

You don’t have the right to be within 100 feet. You have the right maybe to be treated equally as recognised by a state court

So, the ruling is still the same they haven’t broken any laws.

I'm not disputing the quote from the judge Elefant. I'm just saying to ignore Rudy's outside court pronouncements of any kind.

I was watching CNN’s livestream and they stayed with it

Yeah, me too. Staying with it all, but then making it clear that it's all lies was the right approach. No equivocation... point out the lies.

The large lady appears to be warming her larynx…

Yep, whilst Trump is sat on one arse cheek looking at Georgia and Pennsylvania, over in Nevada and Arizona they're calling "5 Mins Ms. Brünnhilde"

I've just been reading the papers about last night's presser. I missed the significance about him complaining that Detroit and Philadelphia are the most corrupt cities in the country, insinuation being that they are also two of the blackest cities. It's like his son's tweet about getting ready to go to war / being a figure of speech, he didn't specifically say it but frankly if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck.....

If not meant then his speech writer needs shooting for even allowing that interpetation to be there. If it was meant, as I believe it was, what an abhorrent bag of shit he is.

Georgia

7352 remaining
Biden getting 67% of the recent count
looks like approx 5000 for Biden
gap is 463 to trump.

Looks like Biden will take it.

Pennsylvania looks like a similar picture.

36 seats between the two, the current declared result is 264 to Biden, I make that ultimately 300 to Biden?

Arizona looks close though.

Even if they manage a successful challenge to the 100ft rule, the remedy will be 'a recount under closer observation' which by all accounts will shoot them in their own feet as it'll prove they lost.

Unless the angle they're going for is to actually suggest that the individual people doing the counting are forging the results, which would be a risky angle as there's other checks and balances to prevent that.

No judge, however partisan is going to decree that legal votes get thrown out, the remedy for procedural issues is a recount, not denying citizens of their right to have their vote counted.

Basically the only likely results for them is that:

a> their challenges get thrown out as spurious
b> their challenges result in a recount which exposes their original premise as spurious

I watched the speech live on the Sky News website. They showed the full thing then did reactions in the studio with an ex-Whitehouse staffer.

So, the ruling is still the same they haven’t broken any laws.

That will be for the supreme court to decide. Arguing that you can observe signature checks from 100' away is going to be a challenge.

I’m not disputing the quote from the judge Elefant. I’m just saying to ignore Rudy’s outside court pronouncements of any kind.

I was merely making it clear that Rudy has said the case was about the interpretation of 'observe'. The previous twitter thread gave a different impression.

I don’t think the military are much different than the general population when it comes to their voting allegiances

the Trump campaign is legally allowed to request a recount if the result is close

but the Republicans will have to pay for it, and they may decide not to

Unless the angle they’re going for is to actually suggest that the individual people doing the counting are forging the results,

That has been claimed, yes. No actual evidence, but claimed.

They claimed there were people filling in ballot slips in the counting room and when observers tried to observe they were blocked from view.

Yeah, David Axelrod picked up on this last night, Van Jones thanked him for raising it.

As has already been pointed out, this election has demonstrated that the problem isn't really Trump.

You could argue that four years ago people didn't really know what they were signing up for, it was a bold experiment to bring in a non political person to shake things up.

This time round they have the benefit of four years of experience of Trump. Four years of endless lies, insults, stupidity, racism, climate change denying, law breaking, nepotism and staggering incompetence. Yet, even with all of this compelling evidence, around 70 million Americans still think he should be the next president. He wasn't slapped down, smashed away at the polls. He nearly won.

The problem isn't Trump, the problem is America.
