Untold British history of mountain biking hits 1 million views

The feature length documentary, Mountain Biking, The Untold British Story, charts the history of the mountain bike viewed from a British perspective. Through interviews and rides with many of the key personalities and companies who were part of the scene back in the late 80’s and early 90’s the documentary tells a story quite different from the US oriented story many will be more familiar with.

Singletrack produced the film in partnership with Blue Hippo Media, headed up by Pip Piper who presents and leads the documentary. It has been available to watch on streaming services since it’s release in 2016 but after the shuttering of the Blue Hippo Media company early last year it has existed since then exclusively on our Singletrack Youtube Channel, where it has now just crossed the 1 Million views mark.

If you’ve not yet seen it then put aside 1 hour and 10 minutes and give it a watch. It’s well worth the effort.

Thanks to everyone who has watched it and in particular to Pip who first approached us with the idea and piloted it through to its eventual launch. Also, thanks to the sponsors of the documentary, without who it simply just wouldn’t have happened.

Mark Alker

Singletrack Owner/Publisher

Mark has been riding mountain bikes for over 30 years and co-owns Singletrack, where he's been publisher for 25 years. While his official title might be Managing Director, his actual job description is "whatever needs doing" – from wrangling finances and keeping the lights on to occasionally remembering to ride bikes for fun rather than just work. He's seen the sport evolve from rigid forks to whatever madness the industry dreams up next, and he's still not entirely sure what "gravel" is. When he's not buried in spreadsheets or chasing late invoices, he's probably thinking about his next ride.
