The New Giant Talon XC Hardtail

by 1

“The call of the trail is real.” says Giant’s new enthusiastic press release about its new 2021 Talon hardtail. To be fair, hardtails are great and they’re all very sharply priced. So, let’s take a quick look at the 2021 Giant Talon hardtail run down…

Talon 29 – 2 £529 We’re not sure that ‘Concrete’ is a great colour name though.

The new Talon hardtails have been given a complete makeover. The new models feature a lower seatstay junction than previous iterations, something that calls to mind recent road bike frames, though this was done for compliance, rather than aero. It’s lighter too, bonus. And yes, that’s a rear rack mount. These are nothing if not versatile.

The Talon 1 is £649 for either wheel size

Riders can also choose a bike that best fits their body and riding style. The collection includes bikes with 29-inch wheels and 100mm suspension forks in five sizes (Small, Medium, Large, XL, XXL). For those who prefer 27.5-inch wheels, it’s available in four sizes: XS, Small, Medium and Large. The XS and Small 27.5 bikes have 80mm suspension forks while the Medium and Large models offer 100mm of fork travel. Reach on a Medium is around 425mm with 67.5°/74° angles for the 27.5in models, a degree steeper in the head tube for the 29er.

Top spec, Talon 0 -is £849 in either wheel size.

Internal cable routing gives the bike a clean, modern look, and all frames are compatible with dropper seatposts. There’s also plenty of tyre clearance, with room for up to 2.4-inch widths for either 29-inch or 27.5-inch wheels. Different models offer different drivetrain setups, allowing you to choose either a single or double chainring. Yes, double chainsets and front mechs are still alive!

Another Giant Talon 2 – this time in ‘red clay’ and also £529

Along with all bikes at the moment, if you think you want one, then get ordering right away as all bikes are in demand and these all look pretty good for the cash. More details and dealers and stuff can be found at giant-bicycles.com/gb/bikes/mountain-bikes
