Interbike 2016: Renovo Want To Give You Wood

Who doesn’t want some hardwood between their legs?

Sorry, will start over.

Quite clean, really

Wood gives a ride like no other.

Nicely kinked

That’s not quite right either.

Groovy! (And Tonguey?)

Anyhoo- the folks at Renovo must have a sense of humour to name their hardtails the Kick-Ash (29er) and Hard-Ash (27+).  And they sure are woodchuck-keen on dead trees.  Why?  To defeat shock and vibration, the “villains in ride quality.”  The company claims that wood is far better than metal or carbon fibre at damping vibration while being better able to shrug off rock-induced dents.  And of course wood is intrinsically renewable.

In any case, they’re ether something you’ll be quite (ahem) excited about- or simply not understand.  At a claimed 4-5lb bare, the frames aren’t light- but they are lighter than one might think.  Frames begin at $3,750 (£2,900) which may be a bargain given the amount of work clearly invested in each.

Because of course it is.
