With the Gorrick Spring Series very nearly at an end it must of course be time for those longer rides that we all so love, yep it’s enduro time. A time when you can take to some of the most favoured Gorrick trails in and around Swinley Forest and ride between 1lap or 7, the choice is yours. The 2nd May sees the popular Gorrick 100 get underway, sponsored by a whole host of fabulous clothing company; Gore, Fox & Altura, with Mountain Trax the hub the clothing emporium on site, you can be sure of a great ride with a whole raft of great prizes throughout the day.
With the latest Harry Potter being filmed in Swinley Forest we’re sure that some of that magical experience will rub off on you too as you explore the epic 10 mile route we will have in store. Keep an eye out for those pesky Dementors as you crank it up some of the more challenging climbs an incentive if ever there was one to keep on moving.
Oh and while you’re there have a look at the TORQ 12:12 enduro that we’ve got lined up for August 29th-30th Bank Holiday. Still only in it’s 3rd year this 12hour enduro, that starts at midday Sunday and finishes at midnight, just in time for some decent shuteye, has grown hugely in popularity, that has nothing we’re assured to do with the free beer at the end of the race.
Based once again at Minley manor, using the tried and tested formula of 12 hours, now with added bigness. Look out for a revamped arena with loads of trade stands and a live, all signing, all dancing band to help you jig away the tiredness. In case you need some tunes to keep you going through the wee dark hours, there will also be our resident DJ complete with flashing disco lights to make the bridge a welcome distraction.
Entries for this epic little event are now open and for the first 100 entrants there’s the added bonus of a free event t-shirt. Don’t worry if you didn’t make that cut as all competitors will get a goodie bag as well as much TORQ energy drink on tap that they might need to get round the course.
Talking of the course what you can expect? An 8 miles combination of fun inducing singletrack, fire road and wicked descents over a wide and varied landscape and once those lights are on, you know it’ll take on yet another dimension of even more fun. All in all you’ll find it just right; the right amount of descending, climbing and all-important grin inducing fun.

Well I though a bike mag woudl know better, long ride is not enduro. It’s marathon. Maybe it’s time people start get that correctly…
Yes much like your grammar…LOL
The Gorrick 100 is a great event but being on in the middle of a bank holiday weekend means it messes up the whole 3 days when we normally go away for the whole weekend. The following sunday would be much better IMO!
