What a bike!!! 😛
Love the 1098 shape. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love a Panigale too, but I just think the 1098 is a much better looking bike. Not quite as iconic as the 916 but the more modern interpretation of it that the 999 failed to manage. The Panigale is a weapon but it doesn’t look as imposing or exciting IMO.
As for your missus… When you’re finished with her, I’ll take her off your hands! LOL. You’re a lucky man by the sounds of things!
Even a moderately quick bike will destroy pretty much any car it’s ever likely to see on the road.
Remember back in 2002 when I’d just passed my test, I was on my RVF400, some guy in his hotted up Scooby (been played with and running 300+bhp apparently) decided he wanted a race from the traffic lights on the Oxford Ring Road…
I got bored when I shifted up to 4th, the Scooby was so far back it almost didn’t register in my wing mirrors! He’d dumped the clutch on the line and being 4wd it got a few yard head start on me, but when he grabbed 2nd I still had about 6000revs left to go in 1st and I just f**ked off!
That was on a motorbike that weighed 180kg (most modern superbikes are around 20kg lighter than this!) and had a rampant 58bhp!
Bikes are a different world that car drivers just don’t get.
Check what weight rear spring it has, most came with an 80 which is fine for 9 stone Italian guys but if your 13 stone or so you’ll need a 90 so you don’t have to have loads of preload wound on. It really helps the ride.
My 748SP came courtesy of Baines Racing, who had fitted a firmer spring than the factory one too. Having ridden a standard 748 that was a bit soft the firmer spring (albeit not as comfortable) did improve the handling markedly. My RVF400 was soft without a rider on it, let alone a tiny little Japanese man even! Back then I was only about 10 1/2 stone and it still bottomed out remarkably easily.
