Bearing removal tool

Need to refurb and perhaps replace the bearings on my Evil Following

Can anyone recommend a decent and not too expensive bearing removal tool that covers a range of sizes

Don’t want to risk doing a bodge job on a carbon frame. Was going to get the superstar ones but they seem to be discontinuing them and don’t have many sizes left

Bloody expensive for what it is – essentially a length of threaded rod with a couple of machined nuts with integrated levers. Could’ve made my own for a fraction of the cost but then it’ll last a lifetime.

You have to buy the bearing kits separately for around £20 each.

My biggest gripe is that given what it costs it could be supplied in a decent storage box that’ll last. As it is, it’s supplied in a flimsy cardboard box.

I ordered one from ebay last week, just under £30 for 9 pullers and a slider bar. Also ordered a tool for fitting them. Wont be here for tomorrow and our EWS Finale trip so will keep our fingers crossed we dont need to change anymore on Abigales Enduro

Yep, I recently bought the above rrp as the SS version going cheap was not in stock. Same comments as above.

Proper ones to cover all sizes and cope with blind bearings will cost £100s.

Though I don’t feel they should. The stuff is all knocked out of factories in china for likely £1 per tool and flogged in fancy branded kits to the west for £100s. But anyway.

The RRP, not sure how it works as an extractor, but DIY job is a few quid for a threaded rod, washers and wing nuts or similar. Extracting I have to use hammer and screwdriver (akin to using a drift).

Blind bearings are where you’re stuck and may need proper tools, although I discovered my screw extractor set works great for smaller bearings as the biggest extractor can basically be screwed into the bearing race and then just pull out 😀

It’s a press with a receiver cup. I have a proper press and use a socket for the same thing. I have used threaded bar and washers previously, but frankly it was absolute shite. The thread tolerances are dreadful, and can skip.
I do not know why press makers (such as unior) don’t supply a receiver kit or make a cup and collet type thing.

Tracey. I take it the blind puller extracts blind bearings. What tool do you then need to fit them again?

Im hoping the universal bike bearing instalation tool kit will sort most of the Specialized bearings out.

Well both the puller kit and the installation kit have arrived early. Got to say that they look the part, even if the puller kit is bigger and heavier than I expected. Proof will be when we come to use them. Will pack them in the camper tonight, that way I know we wont need them for our trip.

Any updates on the kit?
