Rider is a dickhead pure and simple. No skills and giving other bikers a bad name.

I don't think he've had made it round anyhow. And as you rightly point out, a complete tool!

Very very lucky.

...the people in the car that is.

The rider, with skills like that, is probably delaying the inevitable.

Entered the corner a bit faster than he was comfortable with and target fixated on the car, lucky guy.
This will be happening all over the country over the next few months as people get their bikes back out after the winter break, for most it'll just be a 'moment' with no consequences
Feel sorry for the people in the car something like that is going to shake you up pretty badly.

Nobby. When I lived near Glen Coe I got sick of veering very close to walls in my van to avoid bikers veering over the line on bends because they were riding well over their ability. Stopped veering after a while and scared the crap out of quite a few. Amazed I never had to wipe one off the front of the van.

And to cement his idiocy he gives out his full name.

He appears proud of himself, if that was me I'd be acutely embarrassed and would probably delete the video before anyone else saw how much of a silly boy I'd been, I certainly wouldn't be giving interviews about my crap riding!

veering over the line

He clearly, and deliberately, crosses the double lines overtaking at the beginning.

Asshat. Lucky to be alive, but still an asshat.

I do hope he receives a visit from the police.

Surviving stupidity doesn't mean you deserve an opportunity to repeat the experience.

Looking at the video, he just missed a section of dry stone wall as the section below the fence where he went down had gone already, probably from a previous accident, lucky lucky bloke ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Very common biking accident that. Running wide on a left hand bend into oncoming trafic. Too fast, and didn't know the road. Lucky boy.

Not the first and def won't be the last on the Cat.

Is it not a six pointer for overtaking on double whites?

TBH i don't see why he's an idiot ? He made a mistake, misjudged a corner, i've done it, you've done it.. we've all done it... either on MTbs, roadbikes or in cars..

Why is he an idiot ?

Well the two other bikers he overtook at the start on double whites makes him an idiot. No consideration for other road users, idiot again. Thinking he's a distant cousin of Rossi, once more an idiot....

Because when I've misjudged a corner in a car and nearly smashed into someone else I've been a friggin' idiot.

Misjudged? I don't think so. I think he knew how fast he wanted to be going and is therefore an asshat of the highest order.

Reminded me a bit of Connor Cummins off at the 2010 TT:

You can do, but only if you cross them. You can overtake legally when there are double whites, just don't go over them, unlike this chap.

I used to cycle the Cat regularly. Most bikers were OK, but a few were absolute bellends.

Seeing sand and sawdust all over the road soaking up someone's blood was always a reminder why that road is one of the country's most dangerous.

[warrior mode on]

Is it just me, obviously on stopping and seeing he was ok and picking up his go pro would anyone else have gone completely ****ing postal at him if you'd been the driver of that car?

None of you overtake on Double whites ?

Even on motorbikes ?

Even on fast motorbikes on a clear road ?

Honestly ?

Yes, I have. However, when I have, I'm generally going at a pace that means I won't run clear across the other lane and into the scenery.

Misjudging the corner doesn't make him an idiot, doing it at that pace when he obviously doesn't know the road might.

1) no

2) don't ride one but I wouldn;t on a road bike

3) it wasn't clear, he was on a bike faster than his skills and road sense could cope with and going round a blind bend.

4) honest.

Never overtake on double whites, they are there for a reason..

I'm not a biker, so my opinion there is limited. The bloke was a KNOB and hopefully someone will report the video and he gets a nock on the door from plod.

edit to add, My brother past his full license yesterday and I had words, if he does something stupid like that, i'll have more words..

I would have waited till he got back up to the road, then run him over.

That'll teach him.

Can't see how he didn't make that fairly shallow looking corner really. Didn't seem overly fast but I guess that may be the Gopro-effect..

Only when it is legal to do so as given in the highway code. The whole point of double white lines is they are there for a reason.

Remember it was not just his own safety he risked by riding like that. Completely selfish and reckless when he should know better.

Weeksy - he nearly killed some people in a car who'd done absolutely nothing wrong, purely because he wanted to ride fast and couldn't handle it.

As a youth I did some stupid shit in cars but I wouldn't try and defend it now.

His road position is totally wrong for a tightening bend.

If he has any sense he'll hang up his leathers and buy an MTB

There's no harm in nipping a foot over the double whites for a moment, not where he did it.

The issue was hugging the left verge on the approach to a left hander - he could easily have gone round that corner at that speed* if he hadn't done absolutely everything wrong, and then target fixated on the car. Another vote for 'first ride this year and very rusty'.

* not actually that fast, even with the fish eyed go-pro's tendency to make everything look 200% more dramatic and awesumz it still didn't look quick.

No, i simply don't see it...

I see a bloke who made an overtake that was perfectly fine (despite being on double whites) and then messed up a corner...

Jesus if we're going to be hung for every mistake, take me away now, guilty as charged.

To be fair to the idiot, he did actually admit to being an idiot in the video.

Jesus if we're going to be hung for every mistake

A mistake is having to brake a bit more heavily than you expected to.

The point is it was an avoidable error made by someone travelling too fast for either their skills or the conditions. He seems to feel it was 'just one of those things'. It wasn't he caused it. The fact there weren't more serious results for either him or the other people was down to luck.

Peoples road safety shouldn't; be down to whether another user is feeling lucky on any given day.

Don't see anything massively wrong with the overtake but the corner....

Weeksy - he admits to being an idiot but you beg to differ? ๐Ÿ˜‰

I agree he was in the wrong, i disagree this makes him an idiot and should have charges brought against him though.

If i misjudge a corner at the weekend like that, should i be prosecuted too ?

Meh... it was a non-incident where he messed up a corner... no more no less.

How is that not dangerous driving Weeksy? Any time you end up on the wrong side of the road with a car coming the other way - you've done something seriously wrong.

Depends on your perception of slow... his 'slow' would appear to have not been slow enough.... however, to someone else it may have...

Misjudgement of corner entry...

If he had made the corner perfectly well, we wouldn't even be discussing it. How is it dangerous driving ?

Remember that tree that jumped out on your at BPW you nearly rode into ? Exactly the same thing... you made a mistake, got target fixation and went straight on....

How on earth does flying off the road trying to avoid a car that's coming towards you as you're going too fast in the wrong lane, wrecking your bike and ending up 30m from the road count as a 'non-incident'?

Can you tell us what an incident is?
