Frontier 300 is back on the cards for 2021. 10 Forests, 20 gravel sectors, 30 hour limit.
“We live on an island, everyone should ride across it at least once!”
After the inaugural Frontier 300’s false start due to a pesky pandemic, landowners have been revisted, the route refined and date rescheduled.
Taking place on Saturday 12th June 2021, Frontier 300 is a 300km supported all-road ride from the west coast of Scotland to the east coast of England linking up the Borders’ finest forests and gravel sectors.
The finish – on the sands of Druridge Bay – will be home to the Salsa Cycle’s Finishers Party and their Brunch On The Beach.
Designed for riders looking for a Dirty Reiver XL experience or those looking for a supported coast to coast challenge with a twist, the event can be ridden solo or shared and ridden in a relay fashion.
In keeping with the route’s adventurous nature and as a nod of appreciation to the Rough Stuff Fellowship, the coast to coast includes one hike a bike section topping out at 500m above sea level – although the view and descent are well worth the effort.
To get around the logistics of an A to B ride, the organisers are putting on optional coach shuttles to and from Carlisle, meaning the event can also be accessed by people using public transport. Alternatively, the event can be relayed with a riding partner, sharing riding and vehicle support roles from West to East.
Registration goes live on 1st November 2020. Rider entry fee can be paid in two parts, allowing participants to spread the cost and secure their place with a deposit. If you need a little more #inspo to get you in the mood for some #adventuregravel, #type2funmaybe and #dirtydropbargoodness then check out the event’s Instagram or website.

I could do with something to aim for for next year… How hard could it be? 🙂
(Quite hard, I reckon…)
Might have a bash at this, on my flat barred gravel bike ahem Hybrid 😉
Hmm. Tempting. Managed a 255km ride in the summer (including some of the 300 route) and wondered whether I could make the 300km mark or not… may be an excuse to lay off the turkey and keep up with the training…
The longest I’ve raced is as part of a Trio at the Glentress 7 but after a scary illness last year I think I might give this a go!!
