Sounds like the mistake he made was to buy Twitter, that isnt what he wants, instead of buying WeChat… that seems to be exactly what he wants.
It was how WeChat started (hence the name) so it does sort of make sense to start with twitter and build it out (WeChat not being an option due to being Chinese ignoring the price tag).
Just the execution has been somewhat flawed so far.
Does the use of the Blackboard Font mean that a foundry somewhere is about to get a big payout for using their IP?
Another cheapskate/lazy business owner.
Whilst I can see how an entire font could be copyrighted because you can draw up a list of features that characterize it. Surely when you reduce that to one letter it’s a bit more difficult?
The logo just looks like one of those rubbish things that hotels give you to put your suitcase on and seems equally as pointless.
I’d agree, but after moving from a retro 80’s Marriot (with wired collapsing X/strappy suitcase stands) to a Holiday Inn (with chipboard wooden box equivalent) on a piss wet day I realized what a good bit of design they were as the suitcase just sat there in a damp puddle.
Oh well, just refreshed and it’s changed. But the colour scheme is still the same, as are the rest of the fonts, we’re still ‘tweeting’ apparently. It’s just so half-arsed, the new logo doesn’t match anything else on the page.
Given his biggest immediate problem is lack of revenue / advertisers, reducing his brand’s value and market recognition seems an immensely daft thing to do….
He was asking for people to send in suggestions earlier, and the best one (in his opinion) gets used, the one at the moment is a placeholder. Until his attention gets drawn by something else after half an hour, he gets bored and it just remains as it is. 🥱😴

I’m pretty sure they’re for room service trays, at least that’s what we used them for when I worked in the hospitality industry
usually for luggage – for keeping your suitcase off the bed or the carpet. Bed bugs get from building to building by hitching a lift on people’s luggage so you’re supposed to keep bags off textile surfaces
It is reported that Meta owns the trademark for ‘x’ in relation to social networking. And Microsoft owns it in relation to gaming. Hilarious if true, and another Musk masterstroke.
