(carried on from t,other thread i guess ! (too small for full suss)! lol

yep so still hunting for full sus, and sat on a womens ‘specialized safire’ today (absolutely no clearance ar standover height) and that was a small size ! tested it around the big car park , was ok riding it but trouble getting on and off.
went to another shop and sat on a ORANGE DIVA FIVE ! way hey what a bike- but at 2,800 ( not buying…. it was very light and very bouncy (just what i need !!!!! (rather strange tho , can someone tell me why they have longer handlebars ???? it was like cycling with mens handlebars on ? wierd. are there any other womens ORANGE bikes out there full suspension ?
at the same shop they told me about buying just a FRAME(with full suss attached( =approx 800 quid and taking my own bits off my hartdail and sticking them on (that would be another 100 quid to do that…
they said the frame was extra small size and an americain one, not 2009 tho, but how wud they be able to get the correct size for me..obviously i need the frame to fit me ???? 13 0r 14 inch… surely when they make up the bike id end up with the whole bike being around 15 inch ? (which agin wud be too big…. (anyone care to comment on this ?

If you try a bike in the shop, and it fits, then they may be able to get the same size frame for you to have built up. Be aware they will probably find that lots of your existing parts won’t fit, so it’ll be an expensive job.

Keep an eye on the classifieds, or if you’re small prehaps adding an expensive seat-post (Titianium?)or suspension seatpost to your existing bike might be a cheap answer.

…mrs julian’s bike (spesh myka) also has comedically wide bars, especially considering it is a 15″ frame. I am sure there must be some reasoning behind it and she likes it…

Wide bars are the way to go – good for bike handling. I do have the odd problem on tree-lined narrow singletrack though 🙄

Good luck with your search, it must be so frustrating for you.

wider bars will give you more stability at speed, Orange are a UK manufacturer and the Fives (including the Diva) are all made in Halifax, what was the “American frame” they were talking about?

the american frame was a ‘spider’ something or other and had a swinger rear shock fixed to it ?
yep my hubby works in Halifax and said they make the orange bikes there ! cool… pity he doesnt work for the firm ! ( i bet he has put in some IT technology stuff in there tho- (nudge nudge wink wink -cheaper bike ..well ya can try cant ya ! lol.

you really woudn’t be disappointed if you got the Diva, the five is an outstanding bike, its a bike that has gradually evolved and been refined. I’d keep on at the hubby if I were you, see if he’ll take you there for a nosy 😀
