Quick question on tyre pressures folks. What are you running just now?

I've got continental vert protec 2.3s which normally run at 55psi – and – pair of panaracer trailrakers 1.8s which I'm sticking on the bike this evening?

I was thinking at running the trailrakers this evening at 30psi – good/bad?

    Cheers Dan

I'd never see 55 in tyres unless it was the sum of them both

25 front/35 rear all year round

Seriously LOL I've been riding with pressures around 45-55 for years and never had a problem, but I'll try those lower pressures now! 😆

Feel like a real dafty now!!! Although it does say on the tyres inflate to 40-60 psi?

Word of warning if you're going to try lower pressures after always running higher. Take at least one spare tube and some patches, you could be in for some pinch flats. Tire pressures are so relative, and dependent on your weight, riding style, location and the tires them selves. Just because one person can run x tire at 25psi and have no problems doesn't mean everyone can. As I said, just a warning.

55 is what i run for Some hardpack races… it all depends on your weight, im 66kg and i'm running around 25 psi in the snow, because there is very little that the tyres are going to snakebite on. depending on your weight and the volume of the tyre you can run more/less, the trailraker has very little volume, so you may want to run it 5 psi harder to account for that. 35 psi should be fine, and the trailrakers will be perfect for the snow right now!

Was riding through town the other day after an 8 mile trek over spiky snow and ice, when I thought the seatpost had slipped down. When I got off I realised the rear tyre was punctured (3 holes). How long it'd been like that I don't know but I hadn't had any grip problems so just let ALL the air out and you'll be fine !
