Last year I bought a jacket from aldi, cheapo £14 job, thought I’d just use it for commuting but it is the best jersey/jacket I’ve owned. It’s windproof front and arms and thin fleece back. It’s not that warm for standing around in but I’ve been riding in it most of the year and on some of the coldest days too. Plenty of protection from wind and no overheating and not too bad in the rain.

Anyway the zips getting a bit dodgy and I wanted something similar, what do you recommend? Standard fleeces are no good in wind or riding fast and full shells are too sweaty and constantly putting on/taking off jackets to regulate temp is a PITA.

Decathlon is worth a try if there is one anywhere near you. I have a zip up windstopper with removable sleeves which I wear virtually all year round. It’s cool enough on its own with the sleeves off for spring use and warm enough with a base layer underneath for most of the autumn/winter. Not as cheap as an Aldi job, but about £35 IIRC.
