I wouldn’t. When we moved house we had a ‘shoes off’ policy. It lasted about three months. Today she brings kids home in prams and wheels them straight over the new rug that she absolutely had to have and cost me a **** fortune. The prams then get folded up and parked with the wheels resting on white walls so I’ll probably be buying paint next. I’m not wholly certain that this isn’t her intention all along.
What you could do is get a light coloured carpet and then cover it with one of those heavy plastic carpet saving runners that my mum had in the hallway back in the 70s?
Still in place at my mum’s.
we’re still trying to get the blood stains out
There’s a trick to this, lots of cold water. As soon as you introduce heat you’re screwed, you’ll never shift it.
As a kid I got a lot of nosebleeds and my gran used to send me to school with a real handkerchief. They always came out clean.
There is a reason why pub carpets and bus/train seats have those patterns. It hides marks.
Yup. I read an article about this a little while ago, might have been on IFLScience. TfL tested different fabric patterns to see which ones hid the most ming.
There isn’t much natural light in the house, so wanted something light so it doesn’t look gloomy
I had this at the old house. I hung a huge mirror diametrically opposite the window in the living room. It made a massive difference. YMMV.
