Which comfy long lasting grips ?

For years my go to choice has been Odi Cross Trainers for lock on or Ritchey WCS for push on . I see STW are bigging up the Gusset Sleeper push on though they need parcel tape to keep them in place unlike the Ritchey’s .

DMR Deathgrips seem to get good reviews though as well, are push on coming back in favour or do people prefer the security of Lock Ons ?

Burgtec bartender pro Greg minnar edition for me, not sure they’re long lasting but really comfy

Deathgrips are super comfy but long lasting they are not.

Burgtec I’d recommend as lasting longer but just as comfy

I’ve switched back to push on. Logic being that not having a layer of hard plastic underneath the rubber leaves more room for rubber.

I’m not too worried about long life though. Like tyres, softer generally means better grip.

As for fixing them, locking wire players are so much fun to use.

Gusset S2 also good… As are Ergon GE1’s.

Got some new ODI Vanquish on order to give a try soon though…

Not Nukrproof Sam Hills. Comfy enough but worn out after 2 rides. Still using em though lol

Deathgrips are excellent, I’ve tried many others, but keep coming back to them.

What kind of riding? Ergon grips have been a revelation for me, bikepacking and general trail riding, but I suspect they’re probably not as useful for techy downhill stuff.

I’ve been a longish term user of deathgrips but they don’t last long at all and once worn are mega slippery when wet.

I’ve just swapped over to Burgtec Bartenders and they feel as / more grippy and will hopefully last longer.

My new bike has come with some OneUp grips which so far feel pretty good too.

ODI reflex is an evolution of the Elite pro and probably my current favourite. One Up thick are very similar but haven’t had them long enough to test durability.
Deathgrips feel amazing at first but don’t last for me. Rip really easily at the ends as well.

Try Ergon before ordering. Loads of my mates wear by them but they weren’t for me. Had one position where they felt ok, but deviate from that and they were so uncomfy.

The foam silicon push on grips on my mtb I’ve had for about five years. Really comfy and grippy in the wet. Can’t remember the name, though.

Got some silicon Arcos ones for the cargo bike and they’re horrible.

Deathgrips here, really like them.

Ran DeathGrips for a long time but they wear quick so tried a few others.

Deity Knuckleduster – shallower inside so make the handlebar 4mm wider each side. Lockring obstructs my preferred shifter position.

Burgtec Bartender Pro – taper on the outboard sides causes a pressure point with how I run my palms right at the edge of the grips.

ODI Reflex – currently on these really like them. I did some back to back testing on a trail centre black and I think they’re comfier.

I’ve settled on Odi F1s. There’s a couple of models but they’re barely any different i think, I’ve got them both on various bikes and like ’em both. They’re not as nice as the esi racer’s edge I used before but they’re about a million times more durable, you can destroy an ESI in a single crash or uplift day.

(nothing fancy needed to keep em in place, just a clean bar. Kind of a pain in teh arse to install, I usually use the cable tie trick but a compressor works, ime isoprpopyl just doesn’t cut it with these)

Odi Rogue for me, been using them for years and I can’t use anything else now, thinner grips feel so wrong to me.

Deathgrips race here, super comfy but don’t last long. Tried a few others but always end up back on them.

Going to give the new Peaty’s ones a go next, they felt lovely when giving them a squeeze in a shop recently.

I’ve been using ESI Chunkys for a few years now. The first set got destroyed pretty quickly but since adding an old lockring collar to protect the end I haven’t had a problem, this includes uplift days.

Wolftooth last great as long as you don’t cut them in a crash. ESI pretty good. Bontrager useless.

Ah, that’s a great idea.  ESI are my grip of preference but I’ve given up on them recently due to trashing several pairs over the summer.  Will give his a try ?

Odi longneck is a good shout. Especially as brake levers seem to mount further in these days. Longneck are almost long enough to fill the gap

+1 for ODI Reflexes, seem to offer a fair a bit of squidge without the squirminess some other softer grips have, they also seem to last well, my current pair are well over a year old now and still look and feel good.

I’ve just gotten some of the new Peaty’s Monarch grips and they are by far the best grips I’ve ever used. 2 different styles for harder or softer grip, different widths available and an amazing tacky rubber. Not sure about durability yet but would recommend.

I moved away from deathgrips, not great in the wet and they certainly aren’t long lasting. Review of the Peatys grips is good, gusset have been good and I still like Half Nelson’s which seem to last forever whilst still providing ample comfort.

Odi F1 vapors seem much more durable than ESI

To throw something else into the mix – Lizard Skins Northshore’s are really good if you’ve got larger gibbon-esque hands. Super comfy, as they’re super chunky, and squidgy but seem to last for ever

I’ve plumped for a pair of Reflex grips as I’ve always got on with Odi

I’d probably expect that a company specialising in grips (e.g. ODI) or bike ergonomics generally (e.g. Ergon, SQlab) to make better grips than the rest.

That was my thinking as well.

Im a fan or Ergon GE1’s, comfy, no arm pump or sore hands, last a couple of years of weekly use.

ODI Dreadlocks for me these days. So grippy and comfy.

Just bought another set of odi rogues, think the last pair lasted a good few years. Comfy and grippy.
